In a major initiative to strengthen India’s medical technology ecosystem, the Technology Innovation Hub Foundation for Internet of Things and Internet of Everything (IHFC) at IIT Delhi has entered into a strategic partnership with AIC-AMTZ MediValley at Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) to promote innovation in medical robotics and intelligent healthcare technologies.
The collaboration was formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the presence of Prof Ajay Kumar Sood, Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, under the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser. The agreement was signed by Ashutosh Dutt Sharma on behalf of IHFC and Dr Jitendra Sharma, Managing Director and Founder CEO of AMTZ.
The partnership combines IHFC’s strengths in artificial intelligence, robotics, cyber-physical systems and autonomous technologies with AMTZ’s advanced medical technology manufacturing and innovation ecosystem. The two organisations will work together to develop next-generation medical robotic solutions that can address emerging healthcare needs while supporting India’s goal of becoming a global centre for medical technology innovation.
As part of the collaboration, both organisations will undertake joint research, technology development, product validation and support for deep-tech startups. The initiative will provide innovators with access to AMTZ’s manufacturing infrastructure, regulatory guidance and industry network, helping them move promising technologies from the laboratory to commercial deployment more efficiently.
The partnership is expected to accelerate the development of advanced medical devices and robotic healthcare solutions while encouraging collaboration between researchers, entrepreneurs, manufacturers and industry stakeholders. By integrating cutting-edge research with large-scale manufacturing capabilities, the initiative aims to improve the speed at which innovative healthcare technologies reach hospitals and patients.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Jitendra Sharma, Managing Director and Founder CEO of AMTZ, said India possesses the talent and technical capability to become a global leader in medical robotics. He noted that the country now requires a strong innovation ecosystem that can convert research ideas into life-saving technologies. According to him, the partnership with IHFC represents an important milestone in developing globally competitive medical technologies designed and manufactured in India.
The event was attended by senior representatives from the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser, including Dr Vishal Choudhary, Scientist ‘F’, Dr Santhosh S Nair, Scientist ‘D’, and Dr Shefali Uttam, Technical Staff. Yashwanth G, Project Director of the Vizag Science and Technology Cluster, along with officials from IHFC and AMTZ, also participated in the programme.
The collaboration marks another important step in AMTZ’s long-term vision of building a robust healthcare innovation ecosystem where research, manufacturing and entrepreneurship work together to deliver advanced medical technologies. By creating stronger links between innovation and production, the partnership is expected to contribute significantly to India’s growing MedTech sector while enabling the development of world-class healthcare solutions for both domestic and global markets.
