Pace Digitek Limited has strengthened its focus on next-generation energy storage technologies with the launch of the Pace-Lineage Research Center in Pune. The dedicated research and development facility has been established by the company’s subsidiary, Lineage Power Private Limited (LPPL), to accelerate innovation in advanced battery technologies and support India’s growing energy storage sector.
The new centre will focus on research, engineering and product development in Advanced Chemistry Cells (ACC), including lithium-ion and sodium-ion battery technologies. The initiative aligns with the Government of India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India programmes by promoting indigenous technology development and strengthening the domestic battery manufacturing ecosystem.
As part of the initiative, Lineage Power has entered into a research collaboration with the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Pune. The partnership will combine academic research with industry expertise to develop advanced battery materials and improve the performance of future energy storage systems.
Research at the Pace-Lineage Research Center will focus on enhancing battery capacity, improving cycling stability and increasing overall efficiency of Advanced Chemistry Cells. Scientists and engineers will work on optimizing material coatings, refining material microstructure and porosity, designing advanced electrolytes and carrying out detailed material characterization and electrochemical testing. The team will also work on optimizing cell parameters to improve battery performance and reliability.
In addition to technology development, the centre will evaluate and validate raw materials sourced from domestic suppliers. This effort is expected to strengthen India’s local supply chain while reducing dependence on imported battery materials and supporting the development of indigenous manufacturing capabilities.
The establishment of the research facility forms part of Pace Digitek’s long-term strategy to expand its research and engineering capabilities in advanced battery technologies. By investing in scientific research and innovation, the company aims to build strong in-house expertise while supporting the development of high-performance energy storage solutions for domestic and global markets.
India’s energy storage market is expected to witness rapid growth in the coming years, driven by increasing renewable energy capacity, grid modernization initiatives and rising demand for reliable power backup solutions. The company believes the new research centre will complement its existing manufacturing, engineering and project execution capabilities while supporting future product development.
Commenting on the launch, Venugopal Rao Maddisetty, Chairman and Managing Director of Pace Digitek Limited, said technology and innovation will play a critical role in shaping the future of energy storage. He said the dedicated research centre represents an important investment in strengthening the company’s research capabilities, while its collaboration with IISER Pune will help accelerate the development of advanced battery materials and indigenous technologies. He added that the initiative is expected to enhance the company’s innovation capabilities and create long-term value for customers and stakeholders. Pace Digitek operates as an integrated infrastructure and energy solutions company across the energy and Telecom & ICT sectors. Its operations cover manufacturing, engineering, procurement and construction (EPC), and operations and maintenance services.
