Mixx Technologies, Inc, a US-based deep-tech company focused on high-speed interconnect solutions for artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure, has announced the acquisition of Bengaluru-based Sophic Silicon Technologies and a manufacturing collaboration with Kaynes Semicon Private Limited. The two strategic developments mark a major step in expanding the company’s semiconductor design and manufacturing capabilities in India.

The acquisition of Sophic Silicon Technologies strengthens Mixx Technologies’ expertise in analog mixed-signal semiconductor design, an essential component for developing advanced co-packaged optics (CPO) solutions used in AI data centres. Sophic Silicon, a beneficiary of the Government of India’s Design Linked Incentive (DLI) Scheme, has built specialised intellectual property for high-speed semiconductor interfaces using advanced CMOS technologies. Its engineering team and IP portfolio will now become part of Mixx Technologies’ global product development operations.

The company said the acquisition enhances its HBxIO™ platform, designed to improve data transfer speeds between AI processors and reduce power consumption in large-scale computing environments. As AI workloads continue to grow, efficient interconnect technologies are becoming increasingly important for improving system performance while lowering energy usage.

Vivek Raghuraman, Chief Executive Officer of Mixx Technologies, said the addition of Sophic Silicon’s design expertise strengthens the company’s electronic-photonic platform and supports its plans to deploy optical connectivity solutions for hyperscale AI infrastructure.

Deepak Pancholi, Founder of Sophic Silicon Technologies, said the acquisition provides the company with access to a global platform that will help commercialise technology developed in India for next-generation AI infrastructure worldwide.

Alongside the acquisition, Mixx Technologies has entered into a manufacturing collaboration with Kaynes Semicon Private Limited, one of India’s leading Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) companies. The partnership will establish advanced assembly and testing capabilities for optical integrated circuits that form part of the HBxIO™ platform.

The collaboration is expected to create an integrated manufacturing pathway within India, enabling faster product development, improved coordination between design and production teams, and greater control over quality and performance. Kaynes Semicon, supported under the Government of India’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme, brings advanced semiconductor packaging and testing expertise to the partnership.

Raghu Panicker, Chief Executive Officer of Kaynes Semicon Private Limited, said the collaboration reflects the growing strength of India’s semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem and demonstrates the country’s ability to support advanced AI hardware technologies.

Mixx Technologies has maintained research and development operations in India since its inception alongside facilities in San Jose, California, and Taiwan. With the acquisition of Sophic Silicon and the collaboration with Kaynes Semicon, the company has established both semiconductor design and manufacturing capabilities in India for its next-generation optical interconnect solutions.

The company said it will continue expanding its research operations in Bengaluru, focusing on analog mixed-signal and photonics integrated circuit development while working with global cloud service providers to deploy advanced optical interconnect technologies for AI data centres. These strategic initiatives reinforce India’s growing role in the global semiconductor value chain by combining advanced design, manufacturing, packaging and testing capabilities within a single ecosystem. The projects also support the country’s efforts to strengthen domestic semiconductor capabilities while serving international technology markets.
