EMS, a value-added distributor of aluminum products and a portfolio company of Wynnchurch Capital, announced the acquisition of American Metals Supply, further expanding its distribution capabilities and geographic reach across key industrial and construction markets in the United States. The acquisition strengthens EMS’s position as a leading supplier of aluminum products serving residential, commercial, patio, marine, and industrial applications. Founded in Tampa, Florida, American Metals Supply has spent more than 25 years building a reputation for dependable customer service, broad product availability, and reliable delivery performance. Over the years, the company has expanded its operations nationwide while maintaining a service-focused business model tailored to contractors, manufacturers, and fabricators.

EMS executives said the transaction aligns closely with the company’s long-term growth strategy and strengthens its ability to support customers across high-demand end markets. The combination is expected to enhance operational scale, improve product accessibility, and create additional opportunities for customers seeking responsive service and consistent supply performance.

Mike Swedick, Chief Executive Officer of EMS, said the acquisition brings together two organizations that share a similar approach to customer relationships and operational execution. He noted that both companies have built strong reputations through reliable service, fast response times, and dependable delivery of critical aluminum products used daily by manufacturers and contractors.

Kevin Gonzalez, Chief Executive Officer of American Metals Supply, said the partnership with EMS will support the company’s next phase of growth by expanding capabilities, strengthening market reach, and reinforcing its commitment to customer service excellence.

Since Wynnchurch Capital acquired EMS in October 2019, the company has completed seven acquisitions, including the addition of American Metals Supply. The continued expansion reflects ongoing consolidation and investment activity within the metals distribution sector as companies seek broader regional coverage and enhanced service capabilities.

Headquartered in Lake Worth, Florida, EMS was founded in 1982 and has grown from a single location into a nationwide operation with more than 20 distribution and manufacturing facilities totaling nearly two million square feet. The company supplies aluminum products to a wide range of industries, including construction, transportation, marine, industrial manufacturing, and residential building markets.
