Vedanta Group is accelerating its artificial intelligence and deep-tech transformation strategy with plans to unlock an estimated USD 300–400 million in additional value over the next three years through large-scale deployment of intelligent industrial technologies across its businesses. The company highlighted the impact of its digital transformation initiatives driven through V-Spark DeepTech Ventures, a global corporate innovation and deep-tech accelerator platform established to scale advanced industrial technologies across Vedanta’s operations.
Vedanta stated that since inception, V-Spark-led initiatives have already generated value creation delivering nearly four times return on investment through AI-powered operational optimization, automation, predictive analytics, and connected industrial systems. The company’s digital transformation strategy aligns closely with India’s broader industrial modernization and advanced manufacturing ambitions under this year’s National Technology Day theme focused on responsible innovation and inclusive growth.
Vedanta has been deploying artificial intelligence, Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), machine learning, predictive analytics, digital twins, connected manufacturing systems, and intelligent automation technologies across its businesses spanning metals, mining, oil and gas, power, and critical minerals.
Akarsh Hebbar, Chairman of V-Spark DeepTech Ventures and President of Vedanta Group, said the company is leveraging AI and deep-tech innovation to strengthen operational excellence, sustainability, and global competitiveness across industrial operations.
He stated that Vedanta’s technology-led transformation aims to improve productivity, optimize costs, enhance operational resilience, strengthen workplace safety, and support future-ready industrial ecosystems.
Through V-Spark, Vedanta plans to collaborate with more than 1,000 startups to build a large-scale innovation ecosystem focused on industrial digitalization, sustainability technologies, AI-driven manufacturing systems, and next-generation industrial solutions.
The company has already implemented several AI-enabled solutions across its operations, including predictive maintenance platforms, intelligent thermal monitoring systems, automated process optimization tools, advanced froth analytics, and AI-powered energy management systems. Vedanta has also installed over 500 AI-enabled safety cameras across operational facilities to improve real-time workplace safety monitoring and strengthen risk management systems.
In mining operations, AI-driven fleet optimization systems are helping improve haulage efficiency, reduce fuel consumption, and enhance productivity. The company is also deploying tele-remote mining technologies aimed at enabling safer underground mining operations by reducing direct human-machine interaction.
Vedanta stated that its digital manufacturing initiatives are generating measurable financial and operational benefits. Automated monitoring systems deployed across smelter operations have already created value estimated at nearly USD 4.2 million.
Additionally, the company’s Mine Excellence initiatives are projected to contribute annual EBITDA improvements of approximately USD 10 million through intelligent operational controls, advanced analytics, and process optimization.
The company is further integrating AI-enabled command centres, enterprise-wide digital dashboards, and real-time analytics platforms to strengthen operational visibility and decision-making capabilities across businesses. Vedanta is also extending AI integration into procurement and supply chain operations through intelligent inventory management systems and digital procurement platforms designed to improve planning accuracy, working capital optimization, and supply chain efficiency.
Industry experts believe industrial AI adoption across metals, mining, manufacturing, and energy sectors is accelerating globally as companies increasingly focus on productivity enhancement, cost optimization, sustainability, and operational resilience. Vedanta said V-Spark DeepTech Ventures will continue to play a central role in driving the company’s innovation-led growth strategy through partnerships with startups, technology companies, research ecosystems, and industrial innovators focused on building the next generation of intelligent manufacturing technologies.
