The 3rd Mumbai edition of ‘Gartex Texprocess India‘, a gathering for professionals in the garment and textile manufacturing sectors, has commenced today at the Jio World Convention Centre, Mumbai.

Gartex Texprocess India 2024, one of the leading tradeshows on garment machinery and textile manufacturing, is a gateway to India’s textile and garment machinery & accessories market. As a one-stop selling and sourcing platform, the event offers a comprehensive showcase of products, services, and technologies spanning the entire production chain.

As one of the trendsetting platforms, Gartex Texprocess India 2024 presents industry players with the opportunity to exhibit new technology, state-of-the-art equipment, materials, and services. The event’s inauguration witnessed a distinguished panel of dignitaries participating in a lamp-lighting ceremony. Chandrakant Patil, the Hon’ble Minister of Textiles, Higher Education, Technical Education, Parliamentary Affairs, and State Border Defense, and Virendra Singh (IAS), Secretary Textile, Maharashtra Government, were among the notable figures.

Additionally, participants included Sharad Jaipuria, President of the Denim Manufacturers Association & CMD of Ginni International Ltd, Simon Lee, Managing Director of Hyosung Group, Aamir Akhtar, Group President and CEO Textiles at Jindal Worldwide Limited, along with other key personalities. This ceremony marked the auspicious commencement of the event, graced by influential leaders from the industry.

During his opening speech, Chandrakant Patil, the Honorable Minister of Textile, Higher Education, Technical Education, Parliamentary Affairs, and State Border Defense, expressed his admiration for the organizers’ efforts in consolidating ‘Fabric to Finish solutions’ on a unified platform. He commended the exhibition’s strategic locations in two major business hubs, ensuring it caters to the diverse business needs of textile clusters across the country. Mr Patil anticipated that the event would provide crucial opportunities for domestic manufacturers to discover appropriate technologies, enhance their businesses, and contribute to the growth of the Indian garment and textile manufacturing value chain.

He also urged attendees to support the Government’s “Vocal for Local” campaign, emphasizing its transition towards “Vocal for Global.” Patil highlighted that “Vocal for Local” serves as the true brand ambassador of the Make in India movement, emphasizing the promotion of local brands, manufacturing, and the supply chain.

With over 120 exhibitors presenting innovations across 32 product categories, including 30+ new exhibitors participating for the first time, the event showcases the latest trends and technologies in textiles. The co-located Denim Show, Fabrics and Trims Show, and Screen Print India-Textile zone further demonstrate industry advancements.

The Ministry of Textiles’ year-end review for 2023 highlighted key initiatives undertaken to boost the sector, such as launching PM MITRA Parks, investing approximately Rs. 2119 Cr. under the PLI Scheme, and funding 126 research proposals under the National Technical Textile Mission (NTTM).

In his keynote address, Sharad Jaipuria, President of the Denim Manufacturers Association, emphasized the commitment of the DMA to propel the denim industry in India forward. Mr Jaipuria expressed the association’s dedication to engaging with all stakeholders in the denim community and highlighted the event as a platform showcasing the versatility of denim as a preferred fabric for various applications. He stressed the inclusivity of the platform, providing an opportunity for all supply chain players to collaborate, network, and foster a fair and equitable environment.

Mr Jaipuria acknowledged the exponential growth of the denim industry, presenting significant opportunities for all participants in the supply chain. Emphasizing the industry’s focus on sustainable practices, he highlighted initiatives promoting circularity and eco-friendliness. Mr Jaipuria extended best wishes to the entire team of Gartex Texprocess India for the anticipated success of the event.

Commenting on the industry’s growth trajectory, Raj Manek, Executive Director, and Board Member at Messe Frankfurt Asia Holdings Ltd, highlighted the robust growth in the sector. With increasing government support and the rapid adoption of automation, technologies, and innovative machinery, the textile industry is undergoing a transformative phase.

Mr Manek emphasized the pivotal role of events like Gartex Texprocess India in bringing together the world’s leading players, providing opportunities to understand current and future trends. He noted that the exclusive knowledge sessions facilitate industry stalwarts in exploring the roadmap to make the sector more vibrant.
