Yokogawa Electric Corporation has received formal validation of its net-zero greenhouse gas emissions targets from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), reinforcing the company’s commitment to climate action and long-term environmental sustainability. The certification confirms that Yokogawa’s emissions reduction strategy aligns with the scientific requirements established under the Paris Agreement and supports efforts to limit global temperature increases to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels. The recognition places Yokogawa among a growing number of global organizations adopting science-based pathways toward decarbonization.

The company has committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its operations and value chain by fiscal year 2050. Under the SBTi Corporate Net-Zero Standard, organizations are required to prioritize direct emissions reductions across Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 categories before addressing remaining residual emissions through approved neutralization measures.

Yokogawa’s sustainability roadmap places significant emphasis on reducing Scope 3 emissions, which account for the vast majority of its total carbon footprint. Because these emissions originate throughout the company’s broader value chain, including suppliers, logistics providers and product use, reducing them requires collaboration across multiple stakeholders and operational areas.

To advance its objectives, Yokogawa is working closely with suppliers to improve environmental performance and encourage emissions reductions throughout procurement networks. The company is also upgrading existing technologies to improve energy efficiency while investing in the development of new products and solutions designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions during operation.

The certification reflects years of planning and implementation focused on integrating sustainability into business operations, product development and customer engagement strategies. By aligning climate targets with internationally recognized scientific standards, Yokogawa aims to strengthen accountability and transparency while supporting broader industry efforts to address climate change.

As industries worldwide accelerate their transition toward lower-carbon operations, digital technologies and advanced industrial solutions are expected to play an increasingly important role in improving energy efficiency and optimizing resource utilization. Yokogawa’s portfolio of automation, measurement and industrial digitalization solutions is designed to support customers pursuing similar sustainability objectives across a wide range of sectors.

The company stated that reducing greenhouse gas emissions throughout the supply chain will remain a key priority as it works toward its long-term environmental commitments. By combining technological innovation with responsible business practices, Yokogawa seeks to contribute to the development of a more sustainable industrial ecosystem while creating value for customers, partners and society.

Founded in 1915 and headquartered in Tokyo, Yokogawa provides solutions in measurement, control, and information technologies across industries including energy, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and food processing.
