WEG has expanded its international footprint in the renewable energy sector with the supply of two large hydrogenerators for a newly developed hydroelectric power plant in Türkiye. The equipment was manufactured at WEG’s production facility in Hosur, India, reflecting the company’s growing role in delivering high-performance energy solutions to global markets through its integrated manufacturing network.
The supply package includes an SPW-series hydrogenerator with a frame size of 1800, rated at 27,059 kVA and 11 kV, and an SPD-series hydrogenerator with a frame size of 1000, rated at 6,059 kVA and 11 kV. Both units are designed for 50 Hz operation and feature multi-pole configurations tailored to the project’s operating requirements.
Engineered for long-term reliability and efficiency, the hydrogenerators will be paired with Francis turbines, enabling optimal conversion of hydraulic energy into electrical power. Once commissioned, the units will operate in synchronisation with the regional electricity grid, supporting increased renewable generation capacity while enhancing grid stability in the region.
The project highlights WEG’s ability to serve complex energy infrastructure developments from India, delivering globally competitive solutions backed by strong engineering capabilities and technical expertise. By supplying critical equipment directly from its Hosur facility, WEG reinforces the strategic importance of its Indian operations in supporting international projects across the power generation sector.
