Wateralia has acquired CSA, an Italian manufacturer of engineered control valves for pressurised water networks, expanding its product portfolio beyond pumps and into pressure and flow management systems for water infrastructure. Founded in 1987 and headquartered in Salsomaggiore Terme, Italy, CSA designs, manufactures and sells valves used to regulate pressure in water distribution networks and control reservoir levels. Its products help match network pressure to demand and can reduce water leakage by up to 20%. Other product lines are designed to limit pipe bursts and reduce the energy required for pumping.
CSA manages its operations in-house, covering product design, engineering, manufacturing and testing. The company serves more than 1,000 customers, mainly municipalities and multi-utility operators, across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, the Americas, and Australia.
The acquisition allows Wateralia to combine its water pump portfolio with CSA’s control valve technology, creating a broader offering for water infrastructure projects. The group now operates seven manufacturing plants and 27 subsidiaries, serving customers in more than 140 countries.
Luca Bonatti, CSA’s current owner and chief executive officer, will retain a minority stake in the company and continue in a senior role following the transaction. Mauro Roversi, Founding Partner and Private Equity Chief Investment Officer at Ambienta SGR, said the acquisition expanded Wateralia’s offering into the control valve segment. He noted that reducing losses from ageing water networks was an important measure for addressing water scarcity and that CSA’s products could contribute to this effort.
Federico De Angelis, Group CEO of Wateralia, said the addition of CSA would enable the group to offer customers a wider range of products and solutions for water infrastructure applications. The combined portfolio will include pumps and engineered control valves for different operating requirements. Mr Bonatti said joining Wateralia marked an important stage in CSA’s development. He said the company would bring its engineering capabilities and product development experience to a group focused on water management.
Control valves play a role in managing pressure across water distribution systems, where variations in demand and operating conditions can affect leakage, pipe integrity and pumping requirements. CSA’s products are designed to address these challenges through pressure regulation and reservoir-level control.
The acquisition adds a complementary product category to Wateralia’s existing operations and extends its presence in water infrastructure markets. The group’s manufacturing and international distribution network provides a platform for offering CSA’s products to a wider customer base.
