Waaree Solar Americas Allocates $200 Million to Battery Energy Storage Expansion

Waaree Solar Americas

Waaree Solar Americas Inc, a subsidiary of Waaree Energies Ltd, has committed $200 million toward the development and deployment of battery energy storage systems in the United States. This announcement is part of Waaree Energies’ broader investment plan totaling $1.2 billion in the U.S. solar and energy sector by 2028.

The newly allocated $200 million will be directed specifically toward battery storage technologies. The initiative aims to strengthen the company’s position in energy infrastructure by supporting large-scale integration of efficient and cost-effective storage solutions across the country. This expansion is expected to generate an estimated 300 to 500 new jobs over the next several years, complementing the 1,500 positions previously announced.

According to Amit Paithankar, Whole-time Director and Chief Executive Officer at Waaree Energies, the investment is driven by the scale and dynamism of the U.S. energy market. He noted that the increasing energy demands of data centers and artificial intelligence infrastructure highlight the need for robust and dependable power sources. He further emphasized that solar energy, being both the most cost-effective and the fastest to deploy, aligns well with the company’s strategic objectives.

In parallel with this storage initiative, Waaree Solar Americas is expanding its manufacturing footprint. Its solar module production facility in Brookshire, Texas, currently operating at 1.6 GW capacity, is undergoing an expansion to reach 3.2 GW. This enhancement is intended to support the growing demand for domestically manufactured renewable energy components.

The combined focus on manufacturing and storage marks a significant step in Waaree’s efforts to support the U.S. energy transition and strengthen its role in the renewable energy supply chain. Waaree is committed to sustainability, innovation, and excellence in solar energy, delivering cutting-edge solutions worldwide. With a strong emphasis on inclusivity and diversity, the company’s U.S. operations are dedicated to advancing clean energy initiatives and supporting the transition to a sustainable, energy-independent future.
