Waaree Group, India’s largest solar PV module manufacturer, has commenced work on its state-of-the-art Alkaline Electrolyser Manufacturing Facility in Valsad, Gujarat. The ground-breaking ceremony took place on February 10, marking a significant milestone in India’s green hydrogen transition. The facility will launch with an initial production capacity of 300 MW in Phase I, positioning Waaree as a key player in the country’s clean energy ecosystem.
Waaree’s expansion into alkaline electrolyser manufacturing aligns with India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission, supporting industries such as steel, refining, transportation, fertilizers, chemicals, food, and power generation in their decarbonization efforts. By localizing the production of high-efficiency electrolysers, Waaree aims to reduce India’s dependence on imports and strengthen its role as a global hub for green hydrogen and its derivatives, including green ammonia and e-fuels.

The facility will feature advanced automated assembly lines for electrolyser stack production, ensuring precision, scalability, and efficiency. These electrolysers are designed for low power consumption, high durability, and minimal maintenance, making them ideal for large-scale green hydrogen production.
Waaree has recently secured Production Linked Incentive (PLI) benefits for its 300 MW electrolyser manufacturing capacity and 90,000 MT per annum of green hydrogen production under the SIGHT (Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition) scheme initiated by the Government of India. This support reinforces Waaree’s commitment to advancing India’s green hydrogen ecosystem, reducing reliance on imports, and promoting domestic manufacturing of critical clean energy technologies.
