In a bid to expand its presence in the construction equipment sector, the Volvo Group is gearing up to launch SDLG excavators in India. Leveraging the combined offering of its Volvo and SDLG brands, the company aims to replicate its success with excavators, identifying India as a pivotal market for this endeavor.
The decision to introduce SDLG excavators stems from the burgeoning demand for reliable and cost-effective machines in the 13-ton class, a segment witnessing significant traction in India’s infrastructure development landscape. The Volvo Group plans to roll out SDLG excavators through its extensive network of 19 dealers across the country.
SDLG products are already well-established in India, benefiting from the robust dealer network shared with the Volvo brand of construction equipment. Dimitrov Krishnan, Head of Volvo CE India, expressed confidence in the SDLG product line, citing its reputation for reliability and performance. “We’ve witnessed SDLG wheel loaders and motor graders securing market-leading positions in their respective sectors. This success paves the way for the introduction of SDLG excavators in India, starting with the 13-ton class,” stated Krishnan.
The inaugural model to hit the Indian market is the SDLG E6135Fi, boasting a powerful DDE Deutz engine and advanced hydraulic system. Engineered with operator comfort in mind, this excavator incorporates cutting-edge technology to enhance productivity and efficiency.
One of the standout features of the E6135Fi is its robust design, requiring maintenance only every 250 to 500 hours, with service points easily accessible from ground level. The inclusion of a colored LCD screen in the cab provides operators with real-time updates on the machine’s health and movements, facilitating preventative maintenance and ensuring high uptime and low total cost of ownership.
Following the launch of the SDLG E6135Fi, the Volvo Group plans to introduce additional excavator models to its Indian dealers in the coming months. Surat Mehta, Head of SDLG India, expressed optimism about the venture, citing the existing popularity of SDLG products among Indian customers and the unparalleled dealer service support. “The introduction of the E6135Fi and subsequent excavator range is poised for success,” affirmed Mehta.
With the introduction of SDLG excavators, the Volvo Group aims to further strengthen its foothold in the Indian construction equipment market, catering to the evolving needs of customers and contributing to the country’s infrastructure development endeavors.
