Versa Products Company has launched the C5 NAMUR Lockout Valve, a compact valve designed to provide positive pneumatic actuator isolation during maintenance activities and shutdown operations. The new valve mounts directly onto pneumatic actuators through a NAMUR interface. It can be mechanically locked in either the energized or de-energized position, allowing maintenance teams to secure an actuator while work is being carried out.

When the valve is unlocked, it operates electrically to control the actuator. The direct-mount configuration reduces the need for additional components and piping, helping simplify installation and maintenance. The C5 can be converted in the field between three-way and four-way operation. It is designed for use with air, inert gas and natural gas, with an operating pressure range of 15 to 150 psi.

The valve features a lightweight anodized aluminium construction and FKM seals. Versa Products also offers both general-purpose and hazardous-location solenoid options, allowing the product to be configured for different industrial operating environments. According to Versa Products, the direct NAMUR mounting arrangement can reduce installation time and limit the number of potential leak points in pneumatic systems. The design also simplifies access during maintenance and actuator servicing.

Rob Lindquist, Director of Global Sales, Versa Products Company, said the C5 provides customers with a straightforward method for isolating pneumatic actuators while maintaining ease of installation and reliable operation. He added that the direct NAMUR mounting design can help reduce installation requirements while allowing maintenance personnel to secure actuators during servicing.

The C5 NAMUR Lockout Valve is intended for applications across several industries where pneumatic actuator isolation is required. Target sectors include oil and gas, chemical processing, power generation, and water and wastewater treatment. The valve provides mechanical actuator lockout, but Versa Products clarifies that the C5 is not an OSHA-approved block-and-bleed lockout valve. Users therefore need to select and apply the product according to their specific safety procedures and applicable requirements.

The ability to mechanically secure an actuator in either operating position gives maintenance personnel greater control during shutdown and servicing activities. Its electrical operating function when unlocked also allows the valve to remain part of the normal actuator control system. With its compact construction and direct mounting arrangement, the C5 is designed to address applications where space, installation time and maintenance access are important considerations.

Versa Products Company develops and manufactures valves and control solutions for industrial applications. The company’s latest product expands its range of pneumatic control and isolation solutions for industries requiring dependable actuator operation and maintenance procedures.
