Venus Remedies Ltd (NSE: VENUSREM, BSE: 526953) announced that it has received the final milestone payment of ₹11 crore from Cipla Ltd, completing all commercial obligations outlined in their 2019 licensing arrangement for Venus’ novel antimicrobial-resistance–focused anti-infective for the Indian market. The patented therapy, created by the Venus Medicine Research Centre (VMRC) to treat multidrug-resistant infections, was transferred to Cipla for marketing and distribution six years ago. Since its introduction, the medicine has been used to treat more than one million patients across India, with post-marketing experience showing no serious drug-related adverse events, affirming its strong safety record in day-to-day clinical practice.

The therapy was designed specifically to fill critical gaps where standard antibiotics fail to control resistant pathogens. It has become a valuable option in hospitals and remains a notable example of a domestically developed innovation delivering sustained clinical value in a high-burden environment.

Reflecting on the achievement, Saransh Chaudhary, President, Global Critical Care at Venus Remedies Ltd and CEO of VMRC, said that the final milestone represents far more than the completion of a commercial agreement. He noted that it affirms the long-term significance of the company’s AMR-oriented scientific work. According to him, witnessing an indigenous anti-infective reach over a million patients while meeting every performance goal set with Cipla is a strong endorsement of VMRC’s research direction. He added that the organisation’s commitment to AMR remains uncompromised, with a robust pipeline that includes advanced antibacterial candidates such as VRP034 and MET-X, both of which have been awarded QIDP status by the U.S. FDA. VMRC also continues to expand its efforts in surveillance and stewardship through initiatives like GASAR and international data-sharing collaborations, all aimed at protecting antibiotic efficacy and improving outcomes for patients with severe infections.

Venus Remedies reiterated that antimicrobial resistance will remain a central pillar of its strategy, with continued emphasis on innovation, evidence-based development and responsible-use frameworks to confront one of the most urgent public health threats of this century. Based in Panchkula, Venus Remedies Ltd is among the world’s top ten fixed-dosage injectable manufacturers.
