Venti Technologies, a developer of autonomous vehicle logistics solutions for industrial yards and logistics hubs, has announced the appointment of Todd Podell, Vice President and Chief Sourcing Officer at BNSF Railway, to its Board of Directors. The appointment brings extensive expertise in procurement, supply chain management and strategic business operations to the company’s leadership as it continues to expand its autonomous logistics business.
Mr Podell currently oversees enterprise-wide sourcing, procurement, supply chain strategy, facilities operations and fuel management at BNSF Railway, one of North America’s largest freight rail networks. In his role, he is responsible for supplier strategy, technology evaluation and supplier relationship management while driving initiatives to optimise procurement and spending across BNSF and its parent company, Berkshire Hathaway.
Welcoming the appointment, Heidi Wyle, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Venti Technologies, said, “We are fortunate to have a leader of Todd’s caliber join our board. He is highly experienced in strategic finance to support fast growth and many facets of supply chain strategy and implementation. His insight and wisdom will be of great value to us as we grow and scale.”
Before joining BNSF Railway, Mr Podell held several senior leadership positions across major multinational organisations. He most recently served as Senior Vice President and Chief Procurement and Corporate Services Officer at Discover Financial Services, where he led procurement and corporate services functions. Earlier in his career, he held leadership roles in business transformation and supply chain management at Novartis, McDonald’s and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), gaining broad experience across healthcare, financial services, technology and consumer sectors.
Mr Podell began his professional career as a trial attorney after completing a bachelor’s degree in business from Arizona State University and earning a law degree from Marquette University Law School. His combination of legal, commercial and operational expertise has supported strategic decision-making across multiple industries.
His appointment comes as Venti Technologies continues to strengthen its position in autonomous vehicle logistics for industrial environments. The company develops artificial intelligence-driven transportation systems designed to automate the movement of goods within ports, airports, rail yards, warehouses and manufacturing facilities. Its technology is intended to improve operational efficiency, enhance safety and enable customers to deploy autonomous solutions across complex industrial settings.
Founded in 2018 by a team with strong ties to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Venti Technologies has focused on developing industrial-grade autonomous vehicle systems capable of operating in demanding logistics environments. The company’s flexible platform is designed to support rapid deployment while addressing the growing need for automation in global supply chains.
