Vedanta Group today achieved a landmark milestone in its corporate journey with the successful listing of four newly demerged businesses on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE). The move creates a portfolio of focused sector leaders spanning aluminium, oil and gas, iron and steel, and power, while unlocking new growth opportunities aligned with India’s industrial and economic ambitions.
The newly listed companies — Vedanta Aluminium, Vedanta Oil & Gas, Vedanta Iron & Steel and Vedanta Power — commenced trading alongside Vedanta Limited, the Group’s flagship listed entity. The restructuring is designed to sharpen strategic focus, improve operational agility and create independent businesses positioned to capitalize on sector-specific opportunities.
The listing comes at a time when India’s demand for critical minerals, metals, energy and infrastructure materials is expected to grow significantly, driven by industrialisation, urbanisation, energy transition and advanced manufacturing. Speaking on the occasion, Vedanta Group Chairman Anil Agarwal described the development as a defining moment in the company’s evolution and a significant step toward supporting India’s aspirations for self-reliance and long-term economic growth. He highlighted Vedanta’s commitment to creating shareholder value while building businesses capable of meeting the nation’s future resource and energy requirements.
Vedanta Aluminium begins its independent journey as India’s largest aluminium producer and among the world’s leading producers outside China. The company plans to expand its production capacity substantially over the coming years while supporting the growth of downstream manufacturing industries.
Vedanta Oil & Gas enters the market as India’s largest private-sector producer in its category, with plans to invest significantly to increase production and strengthen domestic energy security. The company’s diversified asset portfolio positions it to play a major role in reducing India’s dependence on imported hydrocarbons.
Vedanta Iron & Steel starts operations as a resource-secure business with ambitions to significantly increase steel production capacity. The company will focus on high-value products, including specialty and green steel solutions that support India’s infrastructure and manufacturing growth.
Vedanta Power, already among the country’s leading thermal power producers, aims to expand capacity substantially over the next decade to meet rising electricity demand. The company is also evaluating future opportunities in emerging energy technologies. Meanwhile, Vedanta Limited will continue to serve as the Group’s flagship entity, anchored by Hindustan Zinc and a portfolio of critical minerals businesses supporting India’s strategic resource requirements.
