Vedanta Aluminium, India’s leading aluminium producer, has once again demonstrated its strong sustainability credentials by achieving the second-highest global ranking in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) for the aluminium sector. Marking a third consecutive year at this position, the company also recorded its highest score to date, earning 84 out of 100.

The achievement highlights Vedanta Aluminium’s steady progress and its focused approach to integrating sustainability across its operations and long-term strategy. The S&P Global CSA is recognized as one of the most comprehensive ESG evaluations worldwide, assessing companies across 62 industries on their management and disclosure of key environmental, social, and governance risks and opportunities.

Reflecting on the recognition, Priya Agarwal Hebbar, Non-Executive Director, Vedanta Limited, said, “Maintaining a top-tier position in the S&P Global CSA for the third year in a row is a matter of pride for us. It reflects the strong values and culture our teams have built. Sustainability guides how we operate and innovate, and this recognition reinforces our responsibility to continuously improve and lead by example.”

Rajiv Kumar, CEO, Vedanta Aluminium, added, “This consistent performance shows that robust ESG practices and competitive business outcomes are closely linked. Our focus on energy transition, efficiency, and low-carbon innovation strengthens our long-term resilience and cost leadership. Through backward integration and disciplined execution, we are well positioned to meet the rising global demand for responsibly sourced aluminium.”

Vedanta Aluminium’s low-carbon product portfolio, including its Restora and Restora Ultra brands, plays a key role in this journey. These products, made using renewable energy, carry a verified carbon footprint of under 4 tCO₂e per tonne, aligning with international benchmarks for low-carbon aluminium. They support the company’s ambition to build a 30% low-carbon aluminium portfolio by 2030, alongside operational decarbonisation, clean energy use, and credible offset mechanisms.

As aluminium becomes increasingly critical to clean energy, sustainable mobility, and climate-resilient infrastructure, Vedanta Aluminium continues to strengthen its ESG performance. In FY25, the company reduced its greenhouse gas intensity by nearly 8.96% compared to FY21, used 1.57 billion units of renewable energy, recycled 16.79 million cubic metres of water, and achieved complete utilisation of fly ash through its Waste-to-Wealth programme. Community-focused initiatives such as water body restoration, large-scale afforestation, and clean energy solutions for rural households further reinforce its commitment to inclusive and sustainable growth.

Vedanta Aluminium, part of Vedanta Limited, is India’s largest aluminium producer, accounting for more than half of the country’s total output with production of 2.42 million tonnes in FY25. The company is a leading supplier of value-added aluminium products used across critical industries. Ranked second globally in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment 2025 for the aluminium sector, Vedanta Aluminium is recognized for its strong sustainability practices. With state-of-the-art smelters, an alumina refinery, and captive power plants in India, the company continues to advance aluminium as the ‘Metal of the Future’ in support of a more sustainable world.
