Vanderlande has inaugurated its India Innovation Centre (IIC) in Pune, marking a key step in expanding the company’s global engineering and innovation capabilities. The centre has been established as a collaboration-led facility where engineering teams can jointly design, test, and develop end-to-end solutions for customers across warehousing, airport, and parcel operations.

The IIC will support engineering and innovation initiatives in areas such as robotic automation, autonomous systems, artificial intelligence, and digital-physical system integration. The facility is intended to enable close collaboration across teams working on the full lifecycle of Vanderlande’s systems, from concept development through testing and deployment.

The launch of the centre represents an important milestone in the growth of Vanderlande India as a Global Capability Centre (GCC). With this addition, Vanderlande India has become the company’s second-largest technology hub globally, after its headquarters in the Netherlands. The investment highlights Vanderlande’s long-term focus on building advanced engineering capabilities and expanding high-value roles in India.

Spread across two acres in Pune, the India Innovation Centre brings together research and development, system testing, training, and global collaboration within a single environment. The integrated setup allows teams to work more closely across disciplines, supporting system ownership and real-world application development. The centre is designed to help engineers deepen technical expertise while contributing directly to customer projects worldwide.

Commenting on the development, Manish Patil, Managing Director, Vanderlande India, said the centre reflects the company’s confidence in its India operations and its continued investment in innovation-led growth. He added that the facility will play a key role in supporting global projects and strengthening Vanderlande’s engineering capabilities.

Over the years, Vanderlande India has grown from a small support operation into a 1,300+ employee Global Capability Centre, covering R&D, software development, core engineering functions, and shared services. The India Innovation Centre represents the next phase of this evolution, with a greater focus on innovation and solution development aligned with the company’s long-term growth objectives.
