Global automotive technology company Valeo has been selected by a leading Indian automobile manufacturer to deploy its advanced driver assistance solution, Valeo Smart Safety 360 (VSS360), for commercial vehicles in India. The development marks a major step in the company’s efforts to strengthen road safety technologies tailored for Indian mobility conditions while expanding local manufacturing capabilities.
The VSS360 system has been specially developed for Indian road environments and will be manufactured at Valeo’s facility in Sanand, Gujarat. The integrated ADAS platform combines multiple safety and driver assistance technologies into a single scalable architecture designed to improve vehicle safety, reduce accidents, and support evolving regulatory standards in the commercial vehicle segment.
The solution includes several advanced safety functions such as Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Information System, Moving Off Information System, and Driver Drowsiness & Attention Warning. These technologies are aimed at addressing the challenges of Indian traffic conditions, including dense urban traffic, unpredictable driving patterns, and the need for enhanced protection for pedestrians and cyclists.
Valeo stated that the VSS360 platform has been engineered as a cost-efficient “one-box” ADAS solution integrating radar fusion directly within the smart front camera system. This architecture helps vehicle manufacturers simplify integration while lowering hardware complexity and improving system efficiency.
Marc Vrecko, CEO of Valeo Brain Division, said the nomination reflects the company’s capability to deliver advanced safety systems suitable for highly demanding operating environments. He noted that India remains a strategic market under Valeo’s “Elevate 2028” roadmap and highlighted the company’s focus on delivering scalable and affordable safety technologies adapted for local mobility requirements.
Jayakumar G, Group President and Managing Director of Valeo India, said the project strengthens the company’s growing ADAS presence in India’s commercial vehicle sector. According to him, increasing regulatory focus on vehicle safety is accelerating the adoption of intelligent driver assistance systems across the country. He added that local manufacturing and engineering capabilities in India enable Valeo to offer globally competitive solutions customised for domestic customers.
The ADAS platform developed for the Indian OEM will support upcoming General Safety Regulations and includes fatigue-monitoring capabilities designed to reduce accidents caused by driver inattention and exhaustion. The system uses three radars and one camera integrated with advanced computer vision technology to ensure reliable performance in varied operating conditions.
One of the key highlights of the system is Valeo’s Univolt Camera technology, which supports both 12V and 24V electrical architectures. This enables deployment across a broad range of commercial vehicles, from light commercial vehicles to heavy-duty trucks. Valeo said the system also supports over-the-air software updates, allowing manufacturers and fleet operators to maintain and upgrade safety performance throughout the vehicle lifecycle without requiring major hardware modifications.
The company believes the increasing emphasis on safer transportation, combined with government-led regulatory initiatives, will create strong momentum for ADAS adoption in India over the coming years. With localisation, scalable engineering, and integrated manufacturing capabilities, Valeo aims to strengthen its role in supporting the next phase of smart and safe mobility solutions for the Indian automotive industry.
