VA TECH WABAG (“WABAG”), a global leader in water and wastewater treatment solutions, has announced that a Developer Consortium comprising Metito Utilities Limited, Etihad Water and Electricity Company PJSC, and SkyBridge Limited Company has been selected as the Preferred Bidder by the Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) for the Hadda Independent Sewage Treatment Plant (ISTP) Project in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Under this development, WABAG has been identified as the preferred Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) partner for the project.

The Hadda ISTP will be implemented under a 25-year Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (BOOT) framework by the Developer Consortium. As proposed in the bid, WABAG’s EPC responsibilities include the complete design, engineering, procurement, and construction of the treatment facilities.

The project scope comprises a sewage treatment plant with an initial capacity of 100,000 cubic metres per day, expandable to 250,000 cubic metres per day, along with an advanced treated sewage effluent (TSE) reuse system. The infrastructure will also include a large storage reservoir and a 38-kilometre transmission pipeline capable of handling up to 350,000 cubic metres per day.

The project start date will be announced following the execution of concession agreements and the achievement of financial closure by the Developer Consortium. Further updates will be communicated in due course.

Commenting on the announcement, Rohan Mittal, Head – Strategy and Business Growth (GCC), said “Being associated with a project of this scale and strategic significance is both an honour and a responsibility. This selection reinforces our strong footprint in the Middle East and our expanding engagement in Saudi Arabia. We are grateful to the Developer Consortium and SWPC for their trust and look forward to working closely to deliver this critical infrastructure with the highest standards of performance and reliability.”
