The Uralungal Labour Contract Co-operative Society (ULCCS), one of India’s most prominent cooperative institutions, has announced the launch of two new business verticals—UL Actant and UL N’Shore—as part of its strategic expansion into electrical engineering, renewable energy, and interior solutions. The two ventures are expected to collectively generate ₹4,000 crore in revenue over the next ten years while creating approximately 3,500 employment opportunities across direct and indirect roles. This move marks a significant step in ULCCS’s long-term growth strategy, building on its diversified capabilities and commitment to inclusive development.
The expansion follows the introduction of U-Sphere, the organisation’s EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) brand launched in 2025 during its centenary year. U-Sphere was designed to integrate design, engineering, and construction into a unified service model, and the addition of UL Actant and UL N’Shore further strengthens ULCCS’s position as a comprehensive solutions provider.
Speaking on the development, ULCCS Chairman Remeshan Palery highlighted the organisation’s legacy of creating livelihood opportunities. He noted that the cooperative was founded by workers who faced social and economic exclusion, and that the new ventures represent a continuation of that mission in modern sectors. He added that clear plans are already in place to achieve the projected revenue and employment goals over the coming decade.
UL Actant will operate as a full-service electrical engineering and green energy solutions provider. The division aims to achieve ₹2,000 crore in revenue and generate around 1,500 jobs within ten years. Its service portfolio includes electrical control systems, extra low voltage (ELV) infrastructure, automated traffic management systems, CCTV surveillance networks, and data connectivity solutions.
A key focus area for UL Actant will be renewable energy. The division will undertake solar energy projects and establish a NABL-accredited facility for energy meter testing and calibration. It also plans to expand into emerging sectors such as green hydrogen, wind energy, small hydropower, pumped storage, and battery energy storage systems by 2035.
UL Actant’s technical credentials include empanelment with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and the Agency for Non-conventional Energy and Rural Technology (ANERT). It also holds an A-class electrical contractor licence and is empanelled by the Energy Management Centre for IBESS projects, positioning it strongly in India’s evolving energy landscape.
The second venture, UL N’Shore, will focus on premium interior design and turnkey execution services. Targeting ₹2,000 crore in revenue and approximately 2,000 jobs over the next decade, the brand will cater to residential, commercial, and institutional clients.
UL N’Shore will offer integrated design solutions, modular furniture manufacturing, and complete office fit-outs. The brand places emphasis on sustainable and biophilic design principles, aligning with growing demand for environmentally conscious and wellness-oriented spaces.
The venture will leverage ULCCS’s existing infrastructure, including modular manufacturing units, workshops, foundries, and advanced production facilities. Technology-driven operations and strategic partnerships are expected to enhance efficiency and scalability.
With the launch of UL Actant and UL N’Shore, ULCCS is entering high-growth sectors that are shaping the future of infrastructure and urban development. The move reflects a forward-looking approach that combines technical expertise with social impact.
Founded over a century ago, ULCCS is Asia’s largest labour cooperative and a major player in infrastructure development. The organisation has completed more than 7,500 projects and has expanded into multiple sectors including construction, information technology, tourism, education, agriculture, and residential development. Known for its integrated approach and strong social foundation, ULCCS continues to deliver large-scale projects while creating sustainable employment opportunities.
