UFlex Ltd, a leader in flexible packaging and solutions, has announced an investment of over Rs 750 crore to establish a new woven polypropylene bags manufacturing plant in Mexico and a recycling facility in Noida, set to become operational by 2025-26, according to Chairman and Managing Director Ashok Chaturvedi. The company’s board has approved a USD 50 million (approximately Rs 435 crore) investment for the Mexico-based woven polypropylene bags (WPP) manufacturing facility, which will primarily serve the North and South American pet food market.
The facility will focus on the production of WPP bags, which are expected to cater to the rapidly growing pet food packaging sector, projected to reach around USD 135 billion by 2030. The plant will have a capacity to produce 80 million bags annually, with the operations slated to begin in the fiscal year 2025-26.
Additionally, UFlex has committed to invest Rs 317.11 crore in expanding its recycling operations at a new facility in Noida, aligning with the Indian government’s extended producer responsibility (EPR) legislation. This investment will strengthen UFlex’s recycling capabilities with cutting-edge technology. The new recycling plant will feature two units with a combined capacity to process 39,600 MTPA of plastic waste, including 36,000 MTPA of post-consumer recycled PET (PCR PET) and 3,600 MTPA of mixed plastic (MLP).
Chaturvedi emphasized that this expansion underscores UFlex’s commitment to sustainable packaging and will support brand owners in meeting their EPR obligations. The company’s enhanced recycling capacity aims to set a global standard for sustainable practices in the packaging industry, contributing to India’s goal of more effective plastic recycling and reuse.
Both projects are scheduled to be operational by 2025-26, marking significant milestones in UFlex’s growth and its contribution to sustainable packaging. UFlex is India’s largest multinational company specializing in flexible packaging and packaging solutions.
