UFlex, a leading player in India’s flexible packaging sector, has joined forces with the Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) Delhi to drive awareness around recycling and sustainability. As part of this partnership, UFlex has established the Ideation Zone at IIP’s campus, an interactive space aimed at educating students, professionals, and the public about sustainable practices in packaging. The Ideation Zone, which was inaugurated by UFlex’s Director of Sustainability, Jeevaraj Pillai, will serve as a hub for discussions and initiatives focused on advancing a circular economy.
The Ideation Zone itself is constructed from recycled materials, including multi-layer plastics and aseptic packaging waste, showcasing the real-world application of circular economy principles. UFlex’s commitment to sustainability is reflected in its ongoing efforts to recycle approximately 30,000 MT of plastic waste across its global operations in India, Poland, and Mexico. Through this collaboration, UFlex aims to inspire new generations to explore sustainability challenges and develop solutions that can contribute to a greener future.
Additionally, UFlex will facilitate workshops and seminars led by industry leaders and sustainability experts, helping students gain insights into recycling technologies and the critical role of research and development in driving innovations in packaging. These sessions will also emphasize the integration of R&D into academic programs, preparing future professionals for leadership roles in sustainable packaging.
Speaking about the initiative, Jeevaraj Pillai highlighted that the partnership with IIP Delhi underscores UFlex’s dedication to advancing sustainability in the packaging industry. He expressed that educating the next generation is essential for fostering change and innovation, especially in promoting circular economy practices and sustainable innovation within the packaging sector.
Dr Tanweer Alam from IIP Delhi also shared excitement about the partnership, noting that it provides students with the unique opportunity to engage with industry experts on key topics like recycling and sustainability. This collaboration is aligned with IIP’s mission to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to meet the packaging industry’s evolving demands and make a positive environmental impact.
