TPREL and NHPC Partner to Solarize Government Buildings by 2025

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has teamed up with NHPC Renewable Energy Limited (NHPC-REL) to lead the installation of rooftop solar projects on government buildings nationwide. This collaboration is part of the ambitious PM Surya Ghar Yojna Scheme, aiming to achieve complete solarisation of government-owned buildings by December 2025.

“By pooling our strengths, we’re confident in achieving our goal of 100% solarisation by 2025, setting a new standard for renewable energy projects in India,” stated Deepesh Nanda, CEO and MD of TPREL, a Tata Power subsidiary.

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has designated NHPC Limited as the scheme implementing partner (SIP) for driving these rooftop solar initiatives, to be executed through its subsidiary NHPC-REL. Combining their efforts, TPREL and NHPC-REL are poised to make significant contributions toward India’s renewable energy goals, establishing benchmarks for future industry endeavors.

“This initiative will not only help us meet our solarisation targets but also greatly reduce the carbon footprint of government buildings,” added RP Goyal, CMD of NHPC. The strategic alliance aims to deploy rooftop solar projects across central ministries, states, and Union Territories, enhancing sustainability efforts nationwide.
