Tata Power has invested ₹4,245 crore in upgrading Odisha’s power infrastructure over the last 3-4 years. The company operates four power distribution companies (discoms) in partnership with the Odisha government: TP Central Odisha Distribution (TPCODL), TP Western Odisha Distribution (TPWODL), TP Southern Odisha Distribution (TPSODL), and TP Northern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPNODL). These discoms serve over nine million customers.

A significant part of the investment, ₹1,232 crore, came from various government schemes. The funds helped lay 2,177 circuit kilometers (Ckm) of 33 kilovolt (KV) lines and 19,809 Ckm of 11 KV lines, and add 30,230 distribution transformers to improve the network’s reliability.

Tata Power has also commissioned 166 new primary substations, with 55% being automated. As a result, urban areas now receive an average of 23.68 hours of power daily, while rural areas receive 21.98 hours, both above the national average. These improvements have also reduced aggregate transmission and distribution (AT&C) losses, which averaged 17.79% in Odisha during the 2023-24 financial year.
