TP Solar Records 2.9 GW Module and 2.8 GW Cell Production in First Nine Months of FY26

TP Solar

TP Solar Limited, the solar manufacturing arm and wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, reported strong production output during the first nine months of FY26, covering the period from April to December 2025. During this time, the company manufactured 2.8 gigawatts of domestically compliant solar cells and 2.9 gigawatts of solar modules.

Of the total module output, 2.4 gigawatts comprised domestically compliant requirement (DCR) modules, while the remaining 0.5 gigawatts were approved list of models and manufacturers (ALMM) modules. The results reflect steady production ramp-up and improving operating efficiency at the company’s manufacturing facility.

In the third quarter of FY26, TP Solar produced 940 megawatts of solar cells, compared with 196 megawatts in the same quarter of the previous year, representing nearly a fivefold increase year on year. Module production during the quarter reached 990 megawatts, up from 927 megawatts in the corresponding period last year, marking an increase of around seven percent.

TP Solar operates a 4.3 gigawatt integrated solar cell and module manufacturing facility in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. The facility is among the largest single-location solar manufacturing units in India and uses technologies such as TOPCon and Mono PERC to produce both ALMM-certified and DCR modules using domestically manufactured cells.

The facility has a workforce in which nearly 80 percent are women, reflecting the company’s focus on inclusive employment practices. Tata Power, through its subsidiary TPREL, has invested close to ₹4,300 crore in developing the plant, supporting domestic manufacturing across the solar value chain.

The Tirunelveli facility forms part of Tata Power’s broader effort to strengthen local manufacturing capacity and support India’s transition toward lower-carbon energy generation. TPREL, a subsidiary of Tata Power, is one of India’s leading renewable energy companies. The firm develops, owns, operates, and maintains a wide range of renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, hybrid, and energy storage solutions. With an impressive portfolio of more than 10.9 GW of renewable energy capacity, TPREL is also at the forefront of solar cell and module manufacturing, producing solar modules at a 4.3 GW capacity. Additionally, the company provides electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions and advisory services across the renewable energy sector.

Tata Power, a part of the Tata Group, is one of India’s most integrated power companies with a portfolio of 15.5 GW across various energy sectors. With 6.7 GW of clean energy capacity, Tata Power is committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2045. The company has been instrumental in advancing India’s clean energy transition and currently serves approximately 12.5 million customers across the nation.
