Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) is accelerating its “Green Wave Project” this year, distributing over 7,000 saplings to employees. The goal is to plant 8,000 saplings, involving employees and their communities in afforestation efforts.

TKM has been using the Miyawaki Method of Afforestation since 2009, being the first in India to do so. This method is highly effective in carbon sequestration, capturing 30.86 tons of carbon per acre. TKM’s plantation drives have expanded to 112 acres, with 32 acres using the Miyawaki method. The Bidadi facility now has over 328,000 trees and 790 native species, significantly boosting biodiversity.

TKM also created an “Ecozone,” a 25-acre environmental learning center with 65,000 trees and 650 native species. This center educates children, teachers, and community members on environmental conservation.

Executive Vice President B. Padmanabha emphasized the importance of sustainability, stating, “Our efforts go beyond zero emissions, aiming for water conservation, recycling, and living in harmony with nature.” Last year, TKM employees planted over 5,000 saplings, promoting mass afforestation. TKM continues to share best practices and encourages sustainable initiatives among its suppliers and dealers, committed to its vision of “Mass Happiness for all.”
