Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has conducted the groundbreaking ceremony for a new education infrastructure project at Karnataka Public School in Magadi, Karnataka. The initiative will add classrooms and essential facilities to the school while improving the learning environment for students from the surrounding communities. The ceremony was attended by HC Balakrishna, Hon’ble Minister of Municipal Administration and District In-charge, Bengaluru South, Government of Karnataka, and Ramesh Rao, Vice President, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, along with senior company representatives.
Karnataka Public School, Magadi, serves more than 800 students from 10 neighbouring villages. Recognising the school’s role in providing education to children in the region, TKM will support the development of additional classrooms, kitchen infrastructure and separate sanitation facilities for boys and girls. The project will also include classroom furniture along with digital and practical learning resources. These facilities are expected to create a more comfortable and effective learning environment and support students in their academic development.
The initiative is aimed at improving access to quality education while addressing some of the infrastructure challenges faced by the school. TKM expects the project to contribute to higher enrolment, lower dropout rates among girl students and improved academic performance among students appearing for Class 10 and Pre-University examinations.
Shri Balakrishna said that schools play an important role in building confidence and shaping the future of children. He welcomed collaboration between industry and government to strengthen educational infrastructure and create better opportunities for students and communities.
Vikram Gulati, Country Head and Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said the company’s philosophy of “Growing Together” extends beyond its business operations. He added that providing students with better facilities can help them develop their skills, explore new opportunities and contribute to their communities in the future.
The project forms part of Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s broader community development initiatives, which focus on education, skill development, environmental sustainability and community well-being. The company has supported education-focused programmes that have benefited more than 30,000 students.
Through investments in school infrastructure and learning resources, TKM aims to support inclusive educational opportunities for children in communities around its operations. The Magadi project is designed as a long-term intervention that goes beyond construction work by creating a stronger foundation for learning and student development.
The initiative also reflects the company’s focus on working with local communities and public institutions to identify areas where targeted support can create lasting benefits. By strengthening essential school facilities, TKM aims to help students learn in a safer, more inclusive and better-equipped environment.
