Toyota Kirloskar Motor has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Wipro 3D to set up a Centre of Excellence in additive manufacturing at the Toyota Technical Training Institute (TTTI) in Bidadi. The initiative is aimed at strengthening industry–academia collaboration while equipping students with skills aligned to emerging manufacturing technologies.
The Centre of Excellence will function as a dedicated hub for advanced learning, innovation, and hands-on training in additive manufacturing. It is designed to provide students with direct exposure to industrial applications, helping bridge the gap between theoretical education and real-world production environments.
Senior leadership from both organizations were present at the signing ceremony, reflecting the strategic importance of the collaboration. The partnership will integrate advanced manufacturing concepts into TTTI’s training programs, enabling students to develop practical expertise in next-generation production methods.
As part of the initiative, Wipro 3D will contribute technical knowledge, structured training modules, and workforce development support. The program will include internships, apprenticeships, live industry assignments, certification courses, and workshops. In addition, the curriculum will incorporate continuous improvement practices and Industry 4.0 concepts such as digital manufacturing, smart systems, and efficient resource utilization.
The Centre of Excellence will also support applications such as rapid prototyping, development of production tools, and manufacturing of optimized components. By leveraging additive manufacturing capabilities, the initiative is expected to reduce development timelines, improve assembly efficiency, and enhance flexibility in production processes.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor emphasized that the collaboration aligns with its long-standing focus on human resource development and continuous improvement. The company aims to nurture skilled talent capable of contributing to India’s evolving manufacturing landscape, while also supporting national initiatives focused on skill development.
Wipro 3D highlighted the partnership as a step toward strengthening manufacturing capabilities through innovation and capability building. By combining academic training with industry expertise, the initiative seeks to create a workforce that is well-prepared for the demands of modern manufacturing.
Established in 2007, the Toyota Technical Training Institute has grown into a prominent vocational training centre, offering residential programs in disciplines such as automobile assembly, welding, painting, and mechatronics. The institute recently expanded its intake capacity and continues to promote inclusivity in technical education.
