ArcBest Corporation has announced that its less-than-truckload carrier, ABF Freight, has been awarded the 2025 Excellence in Security Award by the American Trucking Associations (ATA). This recognition marks the twelfth time ABF has received the honor, making it the most awarded carrier in the history of the program and the only one to achieve the distinction three consecutive years.
The ATA Excellence in Security Award is presented annually by the association’s Transportation Security Council and recognizes a motor carrier that demonstrates outstanding commitment to safeguarding its operations. The award evaluates a company’s ability to protect employees, freight, facilities, and equipment through consistent and effective security practices.
ABF Freight has maintained a long-standing focus on integrating security into its daily operations. The company has developed a comprehensive framework that includes employee training, use of advanced technologies, and coordination with local and federal law enforcement agencies. These measures are designed to address evolving risks while ensuring reliable service for customers.
In 2025, the company introduced additional initiatives to further strengthen its network. These include the installation of solar-powered lighting systems across terminals to ensure continuous visibility in dock and yard areas, as well as the deployment of a perimeter breach detection system. The system is designed to immediately alert a 24-hour monitoring team if fencing is tampered with or compromised, enabling rapid response.
ABF also continues to conduct regular risk assessments and compliance audits across its facilities. Ongoing efforts include prevention training for employees and active monitoring of cargo theft and fraud threats. These initiatives are part of a broader strategy to maintain operational integrity and enhance customer confidence. The award was presented during the ATA’s Safety, Security and Human Resources National Conference and Exhibition in Oklahoma City, where members of ABF’s Safety and Security teams accepted the recognition on behalf of the company.
