The TiE Global Summit 2024 (TGS24) opened at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC), hosting global entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers, and thought leaders. Organized by TiE Bangalore and supported by the Karnataka government and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the summit centers on the theme “Putting Entrepreneurship First,” aiming to reshape the future of global entrepreneurship.
The TiE Global Summit commenced with the Antraprerna Summit on December 9, addressing sustainability and entrepreneurial ecosystem development. It featured actionable discussions on overcoming global challenges and fostering growth.
Dignitaries at the inauguration included Karnataka IT Minister Shri Priyank Kharge, Lt. Governor Tahesha Way of New Jersey, STPI Director General Shri Arvind Kumar, and U.S. Consul General Chris Hodges, among others. They emphasized Karnataka’s role as a hub for innovation, supported by strong policy frameworks and initiatives.
Key sessions included “Entrepreneurship Through the Lens of Storytellers,” featuring actor Vidya Balan and producer Siddharth Roy Kapur, who discussed resilience and innovation in their careers. Tennis champion Andre Agassi delivered an inspiring talk on perseverance in the FutureSparks session, sharing lessons from sports and education.
The summit unveiled the KPMG-TiE report Democratisation of Entrepreneurship, revealing that 20% of MSMEs are women-led, and 45% emerge from Tier II/III cities. Karnataka’s Elevate program, which has funded nearly 1,000 startups, was highlighted for promoting inclusivity and growth in entrepreneurship.
A major highlight, the TGS100 initiative, featured pitches from 100 startups across sectors like AI and climate tech, competing for prizes worth ₹50 lakhs. The TiE Women Global Pitch Competition showcased over 3,000 women-led startups, with finalists vying for $50,000 in awards.
Shri Priyank Kharge stated, “Entrepreneurs are shaping a sustainable future with disruptive ideas, and Karnataka is committed to equipping them with mentorship and funding opportunities.” Amit Gupta, Global Chair of TiE, called the summit a “catalyst for innovation and collaboration,” emphasizing the transformative impact of entrepreneurship on global challenges. TGS24 underscores the power of partnerships, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit in building a better, more sustainable future.
