The Battery Show India has highlighted the growing opportunities in India’s electric vehicle, battery manufacturing and energy storage sectors at a media roundtable held in Pune ahead of the fourth edition of the event. Organised by Informa Markets in India, The Battery Show India 2026 will take place from October 22 to 24 at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida. The event will bring together companies and technology providers working across batteries, electric mobility, energy storage, automation and manufacturing.
Industry speakers at the Pune roundtable discussed the need to expand domestic battery production, improve component localisation and develop technologies for the growing EV and energy storage markets. According to the industry estimates shared at the event, battery component localisation, currently at around 30–35% for smaller components, could increase to 70–80% in the coming years. The discussions also covered battery chemistries, manufacturing automation, battery management systems, recycling and energy storage.
Prajyot Sathe, Research Director – Mobility – Electric Vehicles, Frost & Sullivan, said India’s EV market has moved from an early-stage market to one supported by policy, regulation and growing adoption. He said battery electric passenger car sales were around 178,000 units in 2025, compared with approximately 99,000 units in 2024, and could reach 180,000–190,000 units in 2026.
The roundtable also highlighted the growing requirement for battery energy storage systems (BESS). Replus Engitech said its current plant capacity of 1 GWh is being expanded to 6 GWh, with the additional facility expected to become operational from January 2027.
Automation is another area expected to see increased demand as battery manufacturing expands. Patil Automation said it is working on automated production lines for cells, modules and battery packs, with greater focus on safety, traceability and manufacturing data.
Ador Digatron highlighted its work in battery formation and testing systems, EV charging, hydrogen power supplies and energy storage solutions. The 2026 edition of The Battery Show India is expected to feature 300 exhibitors and more than 400 brands. The event will cover EVs, stationary storage, grid-scale BESS and domestic battery manufacturing.
The show will be held alongside the Renewable Energy India Expo and Energy Storage Summit India and will include more than 40 conference sessions, four CXO conclaves and over 500 industry representatives as speakers and moderators. Pune’s automotive and industrial ecosystem also featured prominently in the discussions. The city has more than 4,000 manufacturing and ancillary units in the Pimpri-Chinchwad region, supporting its role in India’s automotive, engineering and EV supply chain.
The Battery Show India will cover the battery value chain from raw materials and components to cell manufacturing, battery packs, BMS, recycling, testing and manufacturing technologies, with participation from companies and technology providers from Korea, Japan, Germany and China.
