Texmaco Rail & Engineering Limited has completed the erection and commissioning of hydro-mechanical systems for the 2,000 MW Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project located on the Arunachal Pradesh–Assam border. The project, developed by NHPC Limited, consists of eight units of 250 MW each. NHPC has declared the commercial operation date for the first generating unit, with three additional units already commissioned. The remaining four units are expected to be commissioned in phases through FY 2026–27.

Texmaco served as the sole hydro-mechanical contractor for the project and was responsible for the design, manufacturing, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of all hydro-mechanical systems. These systems are essential to the safe and timely operation of the generating units.

With an installed capacity of 2,000 MW, Subansiri Lower is one of India’s largest renewable energy projects. Once fully operational, it will supply significant clean power to the national grid and support India’s efforts to reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

Commenting on the completion, Sudipta Mukherjee, Managing Director of Texmaco Rail & Engineering, said the project reflects the company’s experience in executing complex infrastructure works for large hydropower projects and its continued contribution to India’s renewable energy goals.

Texmaco’s role in the project adds to its portfolio of energy and infrastructure work and reinforces its position in hydro-mechanical engineering. The project aligns with the government’s focus on clean energy development and self-reliance in critical infrastructure.

Texmaco Rail & Engineering Limited, part of the Adventz Group, operates across freight cars, rail infrastructure and green energy, and electrical infrastructure. The company has manufacturing facilities in West Bengal, Gujarat, and Chhattisgarh and is engaged in the production of rolling stock, rail infrastructure, hydro-mechanical equipment, bridges, and steel structures. Texmaco also maintains joint ventures with global partners and exports to international markets.
