Global semiconductor major Texas Instruments (TI) on Saturday inaugurated a new state-of-the-art product research and development facility in Bengaluru, marking four decades of its operations in India. The launch took place during an event celebrating the company’s 40-year journey in the country. Spread across 5,50,000 square feet, the new centre has been designed as a collaborative innovation space focused on next-generation chip development.

According to the company, the facility houses an end-to-end reliability laboratory with advanced testing infrastructure to evaluate products under diverse environmental conditions. It also includes multiple integrated circuit design laboratories supporting a wide range of semiconductor research activities.

The centre was inaugurated by Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw along with senior leaders from Texas Instruments. The company said the expansion reflects its long-term strategy to drive semiconductor innovation and develop high-quality design talent in India.TI said the new investment strengthens its work in analogue and embedded processing technologies while enhancing support for India’s growing electronics design ecosystem and customer base.

Congratulating the company, Mr Vaishnaw said Texas Instruments has played a pioneering role in India’s semiconductor journey and has consistently contributed to building the country’s design talent base. He added that the expanded presence further cements India’s position as a global destination for semiconductor design and development, in line with the government’s vision of fostering innovation-led growth.

Texas Instruments said it was the first multinational company to set up an R&D centre in India in 1985 and has helped shape the nation’s semiconductor landscape over the past four decades. With a large workforce in the country, the company continues to expand its footprint, including the recent opening of an additional sales office to deepen engagement with Indian customers. The new R&D facility, it said, significantly strengthens its innovation capabilities in the region.
