Teledyne e2v, a Teledyne Technologies company and global provider of imaging solutions, has announced the launch of Flash 1K2 and Flash 8K, the latest additions to its Flash CMOS image sensor family. The new sensors expand the company’s Flash portfolio, which now offers resolutions ranging from 1K to 8K for industrial and scientific imaging applications.
The newly launched Flash 1K2 features a resolution of 1K x 1K and can capture images at up to 3,000 frames per second at full frame. The sensor has been developed for applications that require the capture of fast-moving events and precise high-speed measurements.
The Flash 8K offers an 8K x 1K resolution and can achieve speeds of up to 1,800 frames per second. The sensor is designed for demanding applications such as high-end 3D laser profiling, high-speed inspection and high-resolution industrial imaging. Both new sensors use Teledyne e2v’s 6 µm CMOS global shutter pixel technology, which combines high image quality, fast frame rates and strong performance. Like other sensors in the Flash family, the new products also offer several advanced features designed to support different application requirements.
These include high dynamic range modes of up to 100 dB, multiple regions of interest and frame-to-frame programmability. These features allow system developers to adjust sensor performance according to changing operating requirements and improve overall system efficiency.
The Flash sensors are based on a single-tap architecture, making them easier to integrate into imaging systems while maintaining high levels of performance. The Flash family already includes the Flash 2K model, which offers a 2K x 1K resolution at up to 1,500 frames per second, and the Flash 4K model, which delivers a 4K x 1K resolution at up to 1,800 frames per second.
With the launch of Flash 1K2 and Flash 8K, customers now have a wider range of choices when selecting image sensors for high-speed industrial and scientific applications. The expanded portfolio allows developers to choose the right balance of resolution, speed and system cost while benefiting from a common architecture and development platform.
The new additions are expected to support applications across industrial automation, machine vision, scientific research, inspection systems and 3D imaging.
