Teledyne DALSA, part of Teledyne Technologies, has announced the launch of its next-generation Xtium™3 PCIe Gen4 frame grabber series, engineered for exceptionally fast image acquisition and demanding industrial vision applications. The first product in the new platform, the Xtium3-CLHS PX8, builds on the capabilities of the proven Xtium2 family and supports the Camera Link HS® (CLHS) standard through a PCI Express™ Gen 4.0 interface.
The compact, single-slot, single-cable design supports up to seven CLHS lanes, each delivering 10.3125 Gbps, for a combined bandwidth of 72.2 Gbps. This configuration enables image acquisition speeds up to 8.6 GB/s and host data transfer rates reaching 13.2 GB/s through a PCIe Gen4 x8 slot.
Engineered for high throughput and scalability, the new frame grabber utilizes the CLHS X-protocol with over 97 percent packet efficiency while supporting extended cable lengths over 30 meters using seven-lane active optical cabling. The platform also provides real-time data forwarding, allowing the redistribution of incoming image streams to as many as twelve other systems through standard AOC connections, supporting parallel and distributed image processing environments.
The PCIe Gen4 architecture delivers consistent host transfers directly to system memory, reducing CPU load and accelerating processing pipelines. Designed for versatility, the Xtium3 series supports area and line-scan imaging in both monochrome and color using the Camera Link HS standard, with support for CoaXPress® planned for a future model.
Additional features include multi-plane HDR image processing for use with Teledyne’s Linea™ HS2 16K camera. The series is fully compatible with Teledyne’s Sapera™ LT software development kit and leading third-party imaging software to ensure fast and seamless system integration.
The Xtium3 platform is purpose-built to meet the requirements of today’s advanced machine vision systems, delivering performance, flexibility, and long-term scalability for industrial imaging. Developers and integrators benefit from a streamlined workflow with minimal overhead and the capability to build high-speed inspection systems optimized for next-generation performance demands.
