Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a global IT services, consulting and business solutions company, has launched the TCS Industrial Intelligence Foundry, an artificial intelligence offering designed to help industrial enterprises move from AI experimentation to deployment across engineering and manufacturing operations. The Foundry provides a repository of configurable AI agents, workflows and governance capabilities. It is designed to help businesses integrate AI into existing processes across sectors including aerospace, mobility, semiconductors, medical devices, industrial electronics, utilities and energy.
Unlike general-purpose AI platforms and horizontal copilots, which often require companies to develop industrial applications from the ground up, the Foundry offers domain-specific AI applications built for industrial workflows. TCS said the offering could help enterprises reduce new product introduction timelines by 25% and improve manufacturing productivity by 20% to 25%. As data systems and operating environments mature, productivity gains could exceed 40%, while maintaining quality and governance standards.
The offering supports AI applications across the product development and manufacturing lifecycle. These include engineering intelligence and product development acceleration to streamline design, validation, documentation and new product introduction processes.
It also supports manufacturing operations optimisation through AI-driven insights, workflow coordination and production performance analysis. Asset performance and operations intelligence are intended to improve equipment reliability, utilisation and operational efficiency.
The Foundry includes capabilities for quality and compliance management, providing contextual recommendations and governance frameworks. It also supports service lifecycle management and workforce enablement through a Human+AI Service Autonomy Model designed to assist decision-making across engineering, manufacturing and field operations.
Ramachandran S, Practice Leader for Engineering and Manufacturing at HFS Research, said industrial and physical AI offered opportunities to create value beyond desktop-based enterprise applications. He noted that industrial organisations planned to double their spending on physical AI over the following two years, according to HFS Research.
He said the TCS offering addressed the need for domain-specific applications in engineering and manufacturing, particularly in areas where existing technologies face limitations in cost or functionality. He added that the focus was on scaling AI implementations and delivering business outcomes rather than running isolated AI projects.
The Industrial Intelligence Foundry is intended to help companies incorporate AI into established operational processes while maintaining oversight and performance standards. Its configurable agents and workflows are designed to reduce the effort involved in developing individual applications and support adoption across multiple functions.
TCS said the offering would help industrial enterprises apply AI to product development, production, asset management, quality and field services. By connecting AI capabilities with industry-specific knowledge and existing workflows, the company aims to support broader deployment of AI across manufacturing and engineering operations.
