Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a global technology and consulting firm, has joined hands with Qualcomm Technologies, Inc to set up a new co-innovation lab in Bengaluru focused on building intelligent, adaptive, and energy-efficient industrial solutions using advanced Edge AI capabilities. The lab, named the TCS Innovation Lab, will be a dedicated space for developing scalable and sustainable technology solutions using Qualcomm® platforms, targeting industries that are shifting toward software-led transformation and automation.
The collaboration aims to deliver affordable, customizable smart systems that operate in real-time, directly at the point of data generation. These systems will improve decision-making, reduce latency, and enable automation across manufacturing, healthcare, infrastructure, surveillance, and related sectors.
The facility is part of TCS’ “Bringing Life to Things”IoT initiative and comes equipped with private 5G capabilities and cutting-edge equipment to support rapid prototyping and deployment. Located in India’s innovation capital, the lab will drive experimentation and development of Edge AI use cases aligned with a Software-Defined Everything (SDx) strategy.
Savi Soin, Senior VP & President, Qualcomm India, said “This collaboration creates a powerful platform for industries looking to evolve with real-time, intelligent systems. Our work with TCS will deliver technology that is efficient, cost-effective, and built to scale—meeting the needs of enterprises seeking modernization in a software-driven world.”
As industries aim to automate and digitize more processes, there is a rising need for smart, compact, high-performance devices that can operate autonomously and adapt in real time. The lab will help address this demand by leveraging Edge AI capabilities combined with Qualcomm’s System-on-Chips to process information locally and securely—bridging the physical and digital worlds more seamlessly.
Applications will include next-gen medical devices, intelligent handheld controllers for industrial machinery, smart infrastructure, and advanced surveillance systems. These solutions are designed to support real-time operations while maintaining flexibility and reliability.
V Rajanna, Business Group Head, Technology, Software & Services, TCS, said “The launch of this co-innovation lab represents our deep commitment to investing in smart platforms that drive business value. By combining TCS’ expertise in software-defined systems with Qualcomm’s advanced hardware, we aim to deliver innovative solutions that enable enterprises to stay ahead in a rapidly changing digital landscape.”
The partnership has already led to the development of a real-time visual inspection system for a major automotive client. This system uses live video feeds to detect minute surface flaws in industrial materials—such as steel or painted components—achieving 90% detection accuracy through a compact, cost-effective device built with Qualcomm hardware.
Regu Ayyaswamy, Global Head, IoT& Digital Engineering, TCS, added “This collaboration builds on our long-standing relationship with Qualcomm and our shared vision of creating a more connected, intelligent industrial future. With our combined strengths, we aim to provide robust, scalable, and sustainable solutions that help enterprises remain agile and competitive.”
TCS brings decades of experience in engineering, research, and large-scale digital transformation. Through its SDx approach, TCS enables the creation of intelligent service networks, embedded AI agents, predictive maintenance tools, and seamless automation frameworks. These solutions help businesses modernize operations while improving system resilience, scalability, and adaptability.
