Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power Company Ltd, has signed a Power Delivery Agreement (PDA) worth Rs 105 crore with Tata Communications Ltd, a leading company in communication technology.

This agreement aims to establish an 18.75 MW AC group captive solar power plant, operated through a special purpose vehicle (SPV) called Nivade Windfarm Ltd. Situated in Aachegaon, Maharashtra, the project is projected to produce around 40 million units (MUs) of power annually, effectively reducing over 30,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year.

TPREL’s strategic focus on group captive projects not only aids India’s ambitious target of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2070 but also caters to the specific renewable energy requirements of clients across diverse sectors. Notably, TPREL has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing a capacity of over 1.5 gigawatts (GW) in group captive projects.
This accomplishment is credited to the successful implementation of PPAs across a range of industries, including steel, polystyrene, mining, iron casting, manufacturing, hospitality, and automotive. The company’s total renewables capacity has reached 9,015 MW, which includes 4,744 MW of projects at various stages of development. TPREL now boasts an operational capacity of 4,271 MW, consisting of 3,244 MW in solar projects and 1,027 MW in wind projects.
