Tata Motors has strengthened its presence in the small commercial vehicle and pickup segment with the introduction of the all-new Intra V40, a bi-fuel pickup designed to meet the growing demand for economical and flexible last-mile cargo transportation solutions. The latest addition to the company’s alternate fuel lineup combines CNG and petrol technology with a payload capacity of 1,525 kg and a 2,960 mm load body, allowing operators to transport larger volumes while maintaining lower operating costs. The vehicle has been developed for a wide range of applications, including urban distribution, inter-city logistics and rural transportation.
Powered by a 1.2-litre engine producing 58 bhp and 106 Nm of torque, the Intra V40 is engineered to deliver reliable performance under varying load conditions. A 110-litre CNG tank supports extended driving range, while the bi-fuel configuration offers operational flexibility, enabling drivers to switch between CNG and petrol depending on availability and route requirements.
The vehicle is built on Tata Motors’ established pickup platform and features a walk-through cabin, ergonomic seating and car-like driving characteristics aimed at enhancing driver comfort during long working hours. Front disc brakes and a hydroformed chassis contribute to improved safety, durability and vehicle stability across diverse road conditions.
Speaking on the launch, Pinaki Haldar, Vice President and Business Head – SCVPU, Tata Motors, said the demand for alternate fuel vehicles in the cargo transportation segment continues to rise as fleet operators seek cost-effective mobility solutions. He noted that the Intra V40 further broadens the company’s alternate fuel offerings while supporting the industry’s gradual transition toward cleaner transportation technologies.
With the launch, Tata Motors now offers one of the most comprehensive alternate fuel portfolios in the small commercial vehicle category. The range includes the Ace Pro Bi-Fuel, Ace CNG 2.0, Intra V20 Gold and the newly introduced Intra V40. The portfolio is complemented by electric models such as the Ace Pro EV, Ace EV 1000 and Intra EV Pickup, providing customers with multiple options across payload requirements and operating environments.
The Intra V40 will also benefit from Tata Motors’ integrated customer support ecosystem. Operators will have access to Sampoorna Seva 2.0, which provides lifecycle support services, while Fleet Edge telematics will offer real-time vehicle monitoring, predictive maintenance insights and fleet management capabilities aimed at improving uptime and operational efficiency.
