Tata Motors, India’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturer, has begun delivering 148 advanced Tata Starbus electric buses to the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC). This latest addition supports the city’s expanding electric fleet and reinforces its focus on sustainable public transport.
The new batch adds to the 921 electric buses already in operation across Bengaluru. Managed under a 12-year agreement, the fleet will be operated and maintained by TML Smart City Mobility Solutions Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Motors. The electric buses were officially flagged off by Ramalinga Reddy, Hon’ble Minister of Transport, Government of Karnataka, alongside Ramachandran R, IAS, Managing Director of BMTC, and other senior government and BMTC officials.
Highlighting the performance of the existing fleet, Ramachandran R, IAS, noted, “The Tata electric buses in Bengaluru have consistently demonstrated high performance, offering citizens a comfortable and reliable commuting experience.
