Symbotic Inc (Nasdaq: SYM), a leader in AI-powered robotics and automation technology for supply chains, has announced the acquisition of ARMS Innovations Ltd (ARMS), a UK-based software company specialising in real-time operational intelligence for complex automated warehouse environments. The acquisition strengthens Symbotic’s strategy to redefine warehouse automation by expanding beyond automated material handling into a new category of enterprise-level Warehouse Operations Optimization. By combining Symbotic’s advanced robotics platform with ARMS’s operational intelligence capabilities, the company aims to provide customers with a comprehensive solution that improves visibility, coordination and performance across entire warehouse ecosystems.
The integrated platform will enable distribution centres to optimise both automated systems and human-led workflows through real-time data, intelligent decision-making and dynamic resource management. The combined technology is designed to act as an operational intelligence layer, providing end-to-end awareness of warehouse activities, identifying potential disruptions, predicting maintenance requirements and coordinating complex processes with greater speed and accuracy.
Rick Cohen, Chairman and CEO of Symbotic, said: “By combining Symbotic’s automation leadership with ARMS’s proven operational intelligence software, we are taking a major step forward in our vision of delivering a fully integrated, intelligent supply chain platform. This acquisition will help customers transform their distribution centres into highly synchronised ecosystems designed to maximise productivity and uptime.”
ARMS’s software introduces advanced AI-driven orchestration capabilities that connect people, robots and workflows within demanding warehouse environments. The system dynamically allocates tasks based on operational priorities, workforce capabilities and equipment availability, ensuring that the right resources are deployed at the right time.
Beyond identifying operational issues, the technology supports faster resolution by analysing problems, assigning appropriate personnel, coordinating required resources and managing corrective actions in real time. This approach helps businesses move from reactive problem-solving towards proactive, data-driven operations that improve efficiency and consistency across logistics networks.
Walt Odisho, Chief Manufacturing & Supply Chain Officer at Symbotic, said: “ARMS was developed to address the challenges of complex automated warehouse environments while helping customers continuously improve operations and reduce costs. We look forward to scaling this expertise and delivering enhanced capabilities to organisations worldwide.”
The acquisition will further strengthen Symbotic’s ability to support advanced logistics environments, including micro-fulfilment centres and complex inbound operations. By combining robotics, software intelligence and machine learning, Symbotic aims to provide customers with a centralised view of warehouse performance and the tools required to manage increasingly demanding supply chain operations.
Symbotic’s AI-powered robotics and software platform is designed to transform warehouses into strategic assets for major retail, wholesale, food and beverage, and medical supply organisations. Through high-density storage, automation and intelligent software, the company helps customers improve speed, accuracy, flexibility and efficiency throughout the movement of goods.
