Suzuki Motor Corporation has signed an agreement to set up its fifth biogas production plant in India. This deal involves Suzuki R&D Center India, the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), and Banas Dairy in Gujarat. The goal is to promote rural mobility using biogas and help achieve carbon neutrality in India.

The signing ceremony took place at Banas Dairy’s Sanadar Plant in Gujarat. Attendees included Banas Dairy’s Chairman Shankar Chaudhary, NDDB’s Executive Director S Rajeev, and Suzuki’s President Toshihiro Suzuki. Around 2,500 local dairy farmers also attended.

The three parties are already working on four biogas plants in Banaskantha, Gujarat. This new agreement is for setting up the fifth plant. The rural mobility service will use biogas to fuel Maruti Suzuki’s CNG vehicles, providing clean and affordable transportation in rural areas, starting in Banaskantha.

President Suzuki stated, “By cooperating with Banas Dairy and NDDB, we will start two new businesses: biogas production and rural mobility service. Each party will contribute ideas to create a new lifestyle model and help develop Banaskantha district.”
