Suven Life Sciences has announced encouraging progress in its ongoing global Phase 3 clinical study evaluating Masupirdine (SUVN-502) for the treatment of agitation associated with Alzheimer’s disease, following a favorable review by an independent Data and Safety Monitoring Board (DSMB). The review was conducted after approximately half of the randomized participants completed the study’s 12-week treatment period. Following an assessment of unblinded safety data, the DSMB recommended that the trial continue without any modifications, citing the absence of safety concerns that would require changes to the protocol or additional monitoring measures.
Alongside the safety review, a planned interim analysis was performed to evaluate whether the existing sample size remained sufficient to meet the study’s objectives. Based on the findings, the DSMB concluded that no increase in enrollment would be necessary, allowing the programme to proceed according to its original design.
The outcome represents an important milestone in the development of Masupirdine, which is being investigated as a potential treatment for agitation in patients with dementia associated with Alzheimer’s disease. Agitation remains one of the most challenging symptoms affecting individuals with Alzheimer’s and often places a significant burden on caregivers and healthcare systems.
Suven reported that participant recruitment continues to progress at a strong pace, with approximately 88 percent of the planned study population already enrolled. Based on current trends, the company expects enrollment to be completed during the second half of 2026, with final patient visits anticipated in early 2027. Top-line results are expected later in 2027 following database lock and analysis.
Company leadership described the positive review as an important validation of the programme’s progress and highlighted the continued momentum in patient recruitment. The company remains focused on advancing the study while maintaining rigorous safety and operational standards.
Masupirdine is one of several clinical-stage assets within Suven’s central nervous system research portfolio. The company is developing a range of therapies targeting neurological and psychiatric conditions, including Alzheimer’s disease, major depressive disorder, sleep disorders, Parkinson’s disease, schizophrenia and cognitive impairments. In addition to Masupirdine, Suven continues to advance multiple programmes through various stages of clinical development, supported by a broader research pipeline focused on addressing unmet needs in CNS disorders.
The latest DSMB recommendation allows the Phase 3 programme to move forward unchanged and reinforces confidence in the ongoing study. If successful, Masupirdine could offer a new treatment option for patients experiencing agitation associated with Alzheimer’s disease, an area where therapeutic needs remain significant and treatment alternatives are limited.
Suven Life Sciences Limited is a biopharmaceutical company dedicated to the discovery and development of innovative therapies for central nervous system (CNS) disorders with significant unmet medical needs. The company is advancing a robust pipeline of novel drug candidates targeting neurological and psychiatric conditions, including Alzheimer’s disease, sleep disorders, major depressive disorder, Parkinson’s disease, schizophrenia, pain management, and gastrointestinal disorders.
Suven currently has five clinical-stage assets under development. Its lead candidate, Masupirdine (SUVN-502), is being evaluated in a global Phase 3 trial for the treatment of agitation associated with Alzheimer’s disease-related dementia. Samelisant (SUVN-G3031), being developed for excessive daytime sleepiness in narcolepsy, has successfully completed a Phase 2 study, with additional studies for cataplexy and a pivotal Phase 3 trial in planning.
Ropanicant (SUVN-911), a potential treatment for major depressive disorder, has completed an open-label Phase 2a study and is currently undergoing a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase 2b trial. Usmarapride (SUVN-D4010) is progressing toward a Phase 2 study for cognitive disorders, while SUVN-I6107 is currently in Phase 1 clinical evaluation.
Beyond its clinical portfolio, Suven is advancing seven research-stage programs across multiple therapeutic indications, reflecting its commitment to innovation in neuroscience. The company retains global intellectual property rights for all its proprietary assets, providing a strong foundation for long-term value creation and future commercialization opportunities across major international markets.
