The Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) joined hands with TiE Global Summit 2024 to co-host its 9th edition, celebrating entrepreneurship and fostering India’s startup ecosystem. The event was held in Bengaluru from December 9-11, 2024, and culminated in Mysuru on December 12, 2024, under the theme “Let’s Celebrate Entrepreneurship.” Organized by TiE Bangalore, the summit brought together global leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs to advance collaboration and innovation in India’s tech landscape.

The event opened with the TiE Antar Prerna Leadership Summit and featured impactful sessions and exhibits. India’s emerging startups displayed groundbreaking innovations, emphasizing creativity and technological progress.

In a session titled “Igniting the Entrepreneurial Spirit,” Shri Arvind Kumar, Director General of STPI, shared insights on democratizing entrepreneurship. He highlighted that over 50% of startups now emerge from Tier-II and Tier-III cities, with a similar percentage led by women entrepreneurs. Shri Kumar advocated for establishing entrepreneurship schools in villages and emphasized startups’ foray into deep-tech areas like AI.

The STPI Sayuj Pavilion, inaugurated by Shri Arvind Kumar, showcased 100 innovative solutions across sectors such as AI and agriculture. STPI also hosted its own stall in Hall 2, presenting initiatives and programs aimed at strengthening the startup ecosystem.

A key highlight of the summit was the signing of MoUs between STPI CoE and prominent organizations such as Intel, Bosch, Schneider Electric, and Global IEEE Institute for Engineers (GIEEE). These partnerships aim to enhance expertise in areas like IoT, AI, energy management, automation, and skill development, further supporting India’s entrepreneurial and technological advancements.

STPI’s SAYUJ platform, a unique networking and resource discovery hub, provided startups with opportunities to connect, collaborate, and scale. Shri Arvind Kumar engaged directly with SAYUJ startups, offering mentorship and fostering industry collaboration.

During a fireside chat, Shri Kumar discussed STPI’s role in expanding India’s electronics and startup ecosystem, highlighting its network of 65 centers, including 57 in smaller cities, and 24 Centers of Entrepreneurship focusing on deep-tech areas. He emphasized the government’s goal to grow the electronics sector to $300 billion by 2026 and commended the contributions of women entrepreneurs and startups from smaller cities.

Shri Kumar encouraged startups to adopt a bold “Just Do It” approach, focus on consumer needs, and innovate for scalable impact. He called for increased use of Indian capital to fund local startups and stressed the importance of rural entrepreneurship education. His message inspired attendees to break new ground and achieve ambitious goals.

The TiE Global Summit 2024 was a testament to collaboration between academia, industry, and government, cementing India’s position as a global innovation hub. STPI’s active involvement further underscored its commitment to empowering startups and driving technological excellence on a global scale.
