Sterling Tools Limited has entered into a strategic partnership with MINIEYE to support the deployment of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Driver Monitoring Systems (DMS) tailored for Indian road and traffic conditions. Under the collaboration, Sterling Tools will contribute application engineering, perception tuning and on-ground industry engagement to adapt intelligent driving and in-cabin technologies for India’s unique driving environments. The partnership recognises that ADAS solutions must be trained and engineered for local traffic behaviour, road infrastructure and operating conditions, rather than directly adopting global configurations.
The collaboration will address both passenger and commercial vehicle segments and focus on ensuring system reliability and regulatory alignment. Technologies covered include Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Departure Warning Systems (LDWS), Driver Drowsiness and Attention Warning Systems (DDAWS), and Blind Spot Monitoring, among others.
Anish Agarwal, Director at Sterling Tools Limited, said the partnership responds to increasing emphasis on road safety and regulatory compliance in India. He noted that working with a global technology provider allows Sterling Tools to support OEMs with safety-critical systems engineered specifically for Indian conditions and aligned with upcoming regulatory requirements.
Dr Liu Guoqing, Founder and Chairman of MINIEYE, said the collaboration represents an important step in adapting intelligent driving technologies for India, combining MINIEYE’s technical expertise with Sterling Tools’ local market understanding to enable production-ready safety solutions.
India’s automotive industry is entering a key transition phase, with mandatory fitment of ADAS and Driver Drowsiness and Attention Warning Systems in new vehicle models scheduled to take effect from January 1, 2027. As adoption accelerates, OEMs are increasingly seeking locally engineered solutions that can handle complex traffic patterns while meeting compliance standards.
MINIEYE brings experience from multiple global markets, with solutions compliant with EU General Safety Regulation (GSR) requirements and supported by Automotive SPICE V4.0 CL3 certification. Its technologies are deployed across Europe, the UK, Australia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and South America.
Sterling Tools continues to expand its technology portfolio through investments in advanced engineering and manufacturing. The company is developing capabilities across electric vehicle power electronics, high-voltage DC contactors and relays, and rare-earth-magnet-free motor technologies. Founded in 1979, Sterling Tools manufactures high-tensile automotive fasteners and serves passenger vehicle, two-wheeler, commercial vehicle, agricultural and construction equipment segments, alongside a growing presence in electric mobility through its subsidiaries.
