Sri Priyanka Geo Commex Limited (SPGCL) has commenced commercial production at its mineral beneficiation unit in Morocco. The facility has been established to improve the quality and grade of barite through gravity-based beneficiation and strengthen the company’s integrated mineral operations in the country.

The unit has a processing capacity of approximately 72,000 metric tonnes of raw barite per annum at full capacity. The facility adds a processing stage between mining and the downstream supply chain, allowing SPGCL to upgrade barite quality before the material is supplied to international customers.

The beneficiation process is expected to provide greater control over product quality, processing and supply while increasing value addition at the source. The company said the facility will reduce its dependence on supplying raw material directly from mining operations and strengthen its integrated approach to the mineral business.

“The commencement of commercial production at our Mineral beneficiation unit in Morocco marks an important milestone in SPGCL’s journey toward building a fully integrated mineral operation. This facility strengthens our ability to enhance Barite quality and grade at source, giving us greater control over processing and supply while reinforcing our commitment to consistency and reliability for our international customers,” said Veera Vikram Nuthalapati, Whole-time Director, Sri Priyanka Geo Commex Limited. He added that the facility is part of the Group’s strategy to expand beyond raw material sourcing and increase value addition across the mineral value chain, covering mining, beneficiation, logistics and international supply.

SPGCL’s mineral operations in Morocco have expanded through a series of developments since 2025. These include the allocation of a barite mine and a copper mine, commencement of commercial production from the barite mine, copper exploration activities and the start of domestic cabotage operations. With these operations, the Group has built capabilities across several stages of the mineral supply chain, including mining, beneficiation, processing, port logistics and cabotage, vessel chartering and international supply.

The Morocco beneficiation unit is expected to play a role in strengthening the Group’s ability to supply processed minerals to customers in international markets. SPGCL’s Singapore entity serves as a link between its Moroccan sourcing operations and customers in the United States, Europe and other markets.

SPGCL was founded in 1990 as an agro-processing enterprise and has since expanded into two business areas. Its domestic agri-processing business is based in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, and includes the processing and refining of rice bran oil and value-added by-products.

Its international minerals and metals business operates through India, Singapore and Morocco, with activities covering mineral sourcing, mining, beneficiation, processing, international marketing and supply-chain management. The commencement of commercial production at the Morocco facility adds further processing capability to SPGCL’s mineral operations and supports its strategy of developing an integrated mining-to-market supply chain.
