Renault India, a wholly owned subsidiary of Renault Group, has launched the Triber 100PS, the first Renault vehicle in India based on the company’s new Renault Group Entry Platform (RGEP). The new model is priced from ₹7.84 lakh to ₹8.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and is available in Evolution, Techno and Emotion variants.

The Triber 100PS combines a turbocharged petrol engine with the existing five-, six- and seven-seat modular layout of the Triber. The new model uses a 1.0-litre TCe 100 engine that produces 100 PS of power and 180 Nm of torque. Renault has certified fuel efficiency of 21 kmpl for the vehicle.

The Triber 100PS has undergone changes to its engine management, thermal management, structure, suspension, braking system and vehicle dynamics. Renault said the model has been developed as a complete vehicle around the new RGEP architecture rather than being limited to a powertrain upgrade.

The car uses a new Renault Engine Management System (R-EMS) to manage engine performance and efficiency. Its engineering package also includes revised suspension geometry, front and rear anti-roll bars, MTV damper technology, revised braking calibration and vehicle dynamics tuning for Indian road conditions. The thermal management system includes a Brushless Direct Current (BLDC) cooling fan, which provides controlled cooling and helps improve energy efficiency and thermal performance.

Francisco Hidalgo, Vice President – Sales & Marketing, Renault India, said, “The Triber 100PS is an important step in Renault India’s product roadmap. With 100 PS of power, 180 Nm of torque, flexible seven-seat modularity, certified fuel efficiency of 21 km/l and prices starting at ₹7.84 lakh, the Triber 100PS brings together performance, practicality, efficiency and value for Indian families.”

Dr Vikraman Vellandi, Head – Renault Engineering, Renault Group India, said, “Developing the Triber 100PS required much more than integrating a new powertrain. Delivering 100 PS and 180 Nm of torque while retaining the Triber’s modularity, comfort and efficiency required the engine, thermal-management, structural, suspension, braking and vehicle-dynamics systems to work together as one package.”

The Triber 100PS retains its modular interior, allowing customers to configure the cabin for five, six o seven occupants. Features include Easy-Fix third-row seats, sliding and reclining second-row seats, one-touch tumble access and different passenger and luggage configurations.

The car remains below four metres in length and uses a 1.0-litre petrol engine. Renault said it therefore qualifies for the 18% GST rate applicable to small petrol cars. More than 2.5 lakh Triber vehicles have been sold in India. Depending on the variant, equipment includes an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, digital LED instrument cluster, automatic air-conditioning, cruise control, wireless charging, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps and Smart Access Card.

The vehicle also gets independent rear air-conditioning with vents for the second and third rows. Six airbags and 21 safety features are offered as standard. Higher variants add features such as front parking sensors, rear-view camera with guidelines and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System.

The Triber 100PS is part of Renault India’s futuREady India roadmap, which includes new products, vehicle architectures and technologies developed for the Indian market. Renault India Pvt. Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of Renault SAS., France. Renault India vehicles are manufactured at the company’s Oragadam facility in Chennai, which has an annual production capacity of 480,000 units.
