SJVN Limited has signed Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) for the supply of electricity from three upcoming hydroelectric projects in Himachal Pradesh. The agreements cover the 66 MW Dhaulasidh Hydroelectric Project, the 210 MW Luhri Stage-I Hydroelectric Project and the 382 MW Sunni Dam Hydroelectric Project.
The agreements were signed in Vadodara by Aman Katoch, General Manager (Commercial and Sales), SJVN, and Sanjay Mathur, General Manager (Commerce), GUVNL, in the presence of senior officials from both organisations. SJVN Chairman and Managing Director Bhupender Gupta said the agreements strengthen the company’s portfolio of long-term power supply arrangements and reaffirm its commitment to expanding clean energy generation in the country. The projects are expected to provide reliable green electricity while supporting India’s growing demand for sustainable power.
The three hydroelectric projects are being developed in Himachal Pradesh and form an important part of SJVN’s renewable energy expansion strategy. Once commissioned, they will supply clean electricity to Gujarat under long-term contracts, contributing to energy security and reducing dependence on conventional power sources.
Hydropower continues to play a critical role in India’s renewable energy mix by providing dependable, low-carbon electricity and grid stability. The agreements also support the country’s broader objective of increasing the share of renewable energy while meeting rising electricity demand.
SJVN has been expanding its presence across hydro, solar, wind and other renewable energy segments as part of its long-term growth strategy. Through partnerships with leading state utilities, the company aims to strengthen access to clean power across the country.
Headquartered in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, SJVN is renowned for its expertise in the design, development, and operation of hydropower plants, and it plays a crucial role in India’s renewable energy sector. With an installed capacity of over 2,000 MW, the company has successfully commissioned several major hydroelectric plants, including the Nathpa Jhakri and Rampur Hydro Electric Projects.
SJVN is also expanding into other renewable energy sectors like solar and wind power, furthering its commitment to clean and sustainable energy production. The company continues to focus on diversifying its energy portfolio while maintaining a strong emphasis on environmental sustainability and community welfare, positioning itself as a key player in India’s energy transition.
