SICK and Endress+Hauser have officially launched their strategic partnership in process automation, integrating SICK’s cutting-edge gas analysis and flow measurement technology into Endress+Hauser’s expansive instrumentation portfolio. This collaboration aims to provide customers with enhanced tools for boosting plant efficiency, environmental protection, and carbon footprint reduction.
The partnership brings together the strengths of both companies. Around 800 SICK sales and service employees across 42 countries have transitioned to Endress+Hauser. This move allows customers to access a wider range of products and benefit from deeper expertise in gas measurement technology. Endress+Hauser will leverage its global network to reach new markets and industries, unlocking additional applications.
A joint venture, Endress+Hauser SICK GmbH+Co. KG, has been established to focus on the production and further development of gas analyzers and flowmeters. Scheduled to begin operations on March 1, 2025, the venture will employ approximately 730 people across multiple German locations, with both companies holding equal shares. This collaboration aims to accelerate product innovation and address evolving market needs.
Since January 1, 2025, Endress+Hauser has been the exclusive global marketer of SICK’s gas analysis and flow measurement solutions, with China transitioning in March for technical reasons. In Türkiye and Saudi Arabia, the transfer of sales and service will be completed in the first quarter. The newly expanded range of products, solutions, and services is already reflected on Endress+Hauser’s platforms.
“This partnership unlocks tremendous potential for growth and sustainability,” said Dr Peter Selders, CEO of Endress+Hauser. “Combining our expertise allows us to create more value for customers, enabling the sustainable transformation of the process industry.”
Dr Mats Gökstorp, chairman of SICK AG’s executive board, added, “This strategic collaboration positions us to better support customers worldwide with advanced solutions, leveraging the enormous growth opportunities presented by the process industry’s ongoing transformation.”
Both leaders expressed gratitude to the employees whose expertise and dedication have built a strong foundation for this partnership. “We thank the teams who contributed to this journey and look forward to achieving new milestones together,” said Dr. Gökstorp and Dr. Selders.
SICK’s core operations in factory and logistics automation, which account for over 80% of its sales, remain outside the scope of this partnership. With over 12,000 employees globally, SICK generated €2.3 billion in revenue in 2023 and continues to lead in sensor-based industrial applications.
As family-owned businesses, SICK and Endress+Hauser share common values and corporate cultures. Their long-standing collaboration has already proven successful in industries such as power plants, steelworks, cement production, oil and gas, and chemical processing. The technologies developed are crucial for applications like emissions monitoring, natural gas flow measurement, and hydrogen transport, addressing key challenges in today’s industrial landscape.
